Hello everyone!
It's the first time I write in this community, I hope I understand the purpose well. Feel free to correct me if I get it wrong. First I'll try to give some context about myself and afterwards, I will try to come to the main point of my article.
As some of you may know, in my spare time, I have a hobby: flag waving. I do it together with some other guys, we're dressed in traditional clothes and perform at events and parades. Laqt weekend, there was such a parade going on. Our flags have a wooden stick of about 2 meters and at the underside is a metal weight of about 4kilogram. That weight is necessary to let our flags turn around when we throw them in the air.
As said, I went to a parade with our performing group last weekend to wave flags. As usual, there was quite some crowd to watch the historic parade. People were standing at the sides of the roads, a guy with a trum walked in front of us to guide us (and tell the crowd when we would start). As the parade was going on and I was in the middle of a performance, someone from the crowd suddenly decided he wanted to cross the streets. As I was looking the other side as there were some children there, I didn't see the man who wanted to cross the streets and I hit him with the stick of my flag. It was just the top, so I guess he will have felt it but wouldn't hurt too much. Still, he started shouting at me. Ofcourse I apologised but than moved on as the parade moved on and he clearly didn't really hurt himself.
In such a situation I always think: Am I the asshole for hitting that guy that suddenly decides to cross the streets in an ongoing parade in which people are waving flags? In my opinion people should look out better and use their brain: maybe it's better to wait instead of traversing the street in yolo-style.
Another category of such people are tourists and or peolle who want to take pictures. Sure, you can take pictures, but don't create dangerous situations while doing so please.
That's it for my first postin this community. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed reading the article!
