The dual blade of love and hate
Vibrates in my sweaty palm
I teeter between fear and disgust
My ego displaying the weakness
I sought to hide from her
The chink in my armour—pride
A subtle snake slithering around my heart
Convinces me to let her go
Cruel words birth a flinch of pain
Across her beautiful face, an unforgettable memory
She deserves better and that's not me
She comes up with reasons to stay
To heal the searing pain in my soul
But her precious affection must not be wasted
On a blighted being such as I
Her pretty face crumples in tears
My departure piercing me deep within
Thoughts of an empty house without her hits me
Like a sharp blade to my guts
Twisting to the core to end my existence
Should I hasten after her
Sniping the thick threads around my heart
And fixing this chink in my armour?
Would I dare to accept her forgiveness
And spend the rest of my life in the spring of her love?
