    My first cattle foot soup

Have you ever had cattle leg soup? I never have. I'll tell you about my experience.

Once upon a time one weekend before I got my hair cut (it was the first thing I noticed from these photos that I had not yet posted) we decided with some friends to make a soup with a cattle leg. The first step was to buy it. So our weekend started with this purchase at the open-air market that is set up in the area every Saturday.

I knew the place where they sold them, so I went there. I bought only one, although I wanted the second one. You can see the marrow and other gelatinous parts and tendons. I was accompanied by one of those who would be there the next day in the kitchen. After his approval, I paid for it. And I gave it to the owners of the house where we would meet that Sunday. In the evening they cooked it in a pressure cooker and it looked like this:

That Sunday, we all arrived at about the same time, around noon. It is a rural house, deep in the mountains. There were several ladies in the group, so they immediately wanted to take charge of preparing the vegetables. Since it was the weekend, they didn't have the same commitments, so they were very excited to share this time together.

And what would I do? Well, they put me in charge of the fire. The truth is that I like that "department", but the detail was that my clothes were not suitable for working with fire and smoke. But still, we were already there and someone had to do it. I rolled up my sleeves and started the job.

Hey, what's that tinderbox doing so close to the fire! Anyway... I should point out that it was very simple. The stove is raised, so you can work standing upright without any problems. The firewood was ideal, dry, quality. And there was a place with a lot of splinters that I used to stoke the fire. In a short time it was all a gimmick. Some people approached me and told me that if I didn't stop I would set fire to everything.🤣

I set up the pot. Immediately the water boiled, we threw in the chopped vegetables. In a short time it softened. We added the leg, and what do you know, they had also cooked some beef ribs and we added those too! So we would officially have what we call here a "cruzado" for lunch. The condiments were added and it was time to serve. There it is:

Since it was my first time, anything that looked strange to me on the plate I asked, "And this is eaten?" After answering me several times yes, one of them told me, "Everything they put there for you is eaten. Don't leave anything behind." So I did. The lemon gave it a special touch.

At the end, we talked and played dominoes.

That weekend was a wonderful moment that I treasure in my heart. Participating in the making of this delicious soup was a positive experience with these special people. What will this weekend bring for me? We'll see. See you next time!
