Happy Women's Day to All Women in the World!

Althroughout history, women have been treated unfairly. When I was still in my bible reading phase, I always questioned why the main women in the stories are just there as backgrounds, or were painted in a bad picture. Then, at some point in history, there's the burning of the witches. Furthermore, women had to put up a fight just to be able to exercise the right to vote.

There seemed to be a pattern in the way women were treated. They are either just flowers for beautification, or trophies that men can brag about, or a support system for men who are out to rule the world. Just because our bodies were built differently, we were told to back down, head to the kitchen, and just keep our heads down. Women were usually painted as the bad characters in the stories of the world, if they are painted at all, that is.

In this week's question from @ladiesofhive, I got to thinking - what is it really that I like about being a woman?

The world did give us women a very challenging start. First, the hardships of childbirth, with the anatomy that was given to us by the universe, it made us look like we are fragile beings. While our bodies may be soft and cuddly - which is actually needed by our offspring when we nurture them after giving birth to them - it does not mean that women are fragile.

Amid all the hardships and the crappy cards we were dealt by the world, women still thrive and come out on top showing everybody just how strong we are. Once a woman gives birth, she automatically, like clockwork, knows how to take care of her child. Should she decide to keep her job and still take care of her kids, she can juggle all the tasks like it's nobody's business. If she does take on being a stay at home mom, she does it like a pro as if she's been trained in the field of medicine, education, child psychology, accounting, business management, administrative management, etc. And she continues to do so well in taking care of her family even without the training needed.

As if that's not challenging enough, enter the doubtfuls, the watchful critics, those that question her capabilities. How often have I heard women complaining that their peers are questioning their capacity to accomplish tasks. Lady drivers are often looked down upon on the road, thinking they can be outwitted or something.

But in reality, women are badass at everything and anything they do. They have been painted as a weak persona in every imaginable ways and yet, women still rise and show that they are a rockstar in any field they choose. Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Mother Theresa, J.K. Rowling, Gabriela Silang, Tandang Sora, Lea Salonga, Hidilyn Diaz. The list goes on. Each women has a different story, different background, but they have a few things in common. They are strong, they are fierce, they are determined. When all odds are against them, they prove just how women are a symbol of strength. They thrive in whatever surroundings they are at.

Women are a proof that whatever challenges you are facing, as long as you are passionate about your goals, you will achieve it. No, we are not weak. We are not meek. We are women. We don't need to brawl just to show how strong we are, our strength comes from our heart. And that is the thing I like most about being a woman. Happy women's month to all the badass women I know in my life.
