New Parliament House 2024 Canberra, Australia.

We flew down to Canberra for a long weekend so Caroline could visit some of there family. It always good to visit a few of the tourist sights as well and see if anything has changed.

Mount Ainslie was our first stop as it was close to where we were staying and has a great lookout.

I like Canberra, many people do not but it is purpose built, very quick and easy to get around. I lived and worked here for 9 months back in 1987. I was a fourth year apprentice electrician on the New Parliament House job. I have been to Canberra a few time over the years but mainly passing through on ski trips to the Snowy Mountains. This was the first time in a while we had enough time to have a better look around. We did not plan or organize anything special just showed up at a few place and had a wander around.

I have been doing it wrong all these years. Your suppose to get your car right over the white line, who would have know. Parking was free at New Parliament House for the first hour.

Being here brought back a lot of good memories and it looks pretty much the same.

I was surprised entry was free and we could just wander around the main areas. Below was a photo I took back in 1988 as the job was being finished. There was a lot of place that was finished and handed over where we were not supposed to be, but I was working on the lifts and had special access.
