French Toast With a Nigerian Spin

    Today is all about toast sandwiches, and I will be showing you guys my French toast recipe.

    Ingredients are:

    4 pieces of sliced bread

    4 pieces of potatoes

    350ml of groundnut oil

    10 pieces of basil leaves

    10g of dry pepper

    1 piece of egg

    1 piece of onion

    15g of powdered milk

    Half a teaspoon of salt

    1 piece of seasoning cube

    A quarter tablespoon of margarine

    Procedure

    I rinsed the potatoes and then packed them inside a clean pot and then put it on the burner.

    I poured the dry pepper inside a mortar and made use of pestles to grind it.

    I made use of a knife to chop the basil leaves and then rinsed it.

    The potatoes were already boiled, so I packed them out of the hot water and then poured ordinary water inside just for them to get cold on time.

    After some minutes the potatoes were cool, so I made use of my hand to peel off the back and then poured them inside the mortar.

    I made use of the pestle to pound the potatoes until it was smooth, and then I transferred them into a clean bowl.

    I poured the pepper inside the potato bowl along with the basil leaves.

    The next thing I did was slice the onion inside and then mix them.

    I added the half teaspoon of salt along with the seasoning cube and a quarter tablespoon of margarine, then mixed again before setting it aside.

    I broke the egg inside a clean bowl, whisked it, and then poured the milk, which I had already dissolved, into a teacup of water.

    The next thing to do now is to bring everything together and see the outcome.

    I placed a slice of bread on a flat plate and then made use of a tablespoon to spread the potato mixture on it.

    I placed another slice on it and then made use of a knife to cut it into two and then set them aside.

    I placed a big frying pan on the burner and then poured a small quantity of groundnut oil.

    While the oil was getting hot, I soaked those filled breads in the mixture of egg and milk and then put them inside the hot oil.

    I fried them on low heat for five minutes, and after that, I turned them to the other side and allowed them to fry for another five minutes.

    I fried the edges as well because I wanted the crunchy taste in every part.

    When they were turning golden brown, I packed them out of the hot oil.
