THE PAIN OF A PAST
The crickets on his feet sleep
its weight of fear carries anguish
of chains that have to drag
bleeding his walk through the area
that left the rain.
Under the desolate rainy weather
walks dragging his fears
short chains tied to the shackle
that hurts with pain
and let the pain bleed
who has to pay in debt
with the burden of guilt
that he carries on his back.
Only he and his rolling shadow go
dragging the heavy plumb line
in a world of iron that does not cease
in the coldness of him sinking into the gray
and the calloused hands hold the chain
tied to the punishment bolo
that between his hands slips through the pond
and the rain that does not stop.
What guilt does he pay and in what time
that ailment from the past is registered
as if it were today?
