Hello Hivers passionate about the impressive world of succulent plants. Today I want to share with you a cultivation summary of a small group of succulents from the Aizoaceae family. Today we will discuss the plants of the Titanopsis genus, which currently has +/- 3 species described so far that are native to arid areas of the African continent. This group of succulents is characterized by having a tiny size with almost imperceptible stems and very fleshy and warty leaves arranged in small rosettes. The flowers are usually yellow and arise from the center of the rosette. The most cultivated species worldwide is Titanopsis calcarea and is considered a plant for experienced growers.

To care for this group of succulents, the following tips must be taken into account:

    • They need a lot of lighting, but never in direct sunlight to avoid fatal burns.
    • It is important to grow them in soils that are almost 70% mineral where water drains very quickly. They are very susceptible to rot.
    • Irrigation should be applied 1-3 times per month depending on the prevailing temperatures.
    • They tolerate temperatures from -10 degrees to more than 25 degrees. They do not tolerate extreme cold if the substrate is humid.
    • Mainly affected by mealybugs, mites, mollusks, insect larvae and aphids.
    • They can be propagated by separating offspring or by seeds.

I hope these basic tips are useful to you if you own or plan to add a Titanopsis succulent to your collection. See you soon.
