Hello StemSocial Community! Welcome to my blog. Today, I have decided to explore another beautiful Physical Phenomenon regarding Light. Light helped us in the Sightedness and clear Vision. It is very important in the formation of different Images by Eyes. It is well accepted fact that Our Eyes have Crystalline Lens (Convex) that converges or diverges coming light rays from the object and forms objective image at the Fovea (structure in the eye's innermost layer).
Different Illusions and Human Eye
Normal Human eye has 25 cm Distance as it's near point. It can see normally and clearly an object in this distance. Sometimes eye's health, near point and object all are in normal premises but we are facing illusions. It happened in our practical life but it is normal.
Have you ever observed? Why Is your Straw during drinking Light colored Juices in the glass bent?

Have you observed that objects residing into the depth of the pond looked Shallow and enlarger?
Both the above physical phenomenas are Eye's illusion. Because neither the straw is bent nor the object is enlarger and shallow in the pond. These illusions are normal and one physical phenomenon is involved in these illusions called Refraction.
Refraction is the bending of light from its normal path when it passes from a lighter medium to the denser medium.
Explanation for these Illusions
We can understand at home clearly why are the objects residing into the pond apparently looked shallow and enlarger? We need to measure the depth of swimming pool at our home.
Then we fill this pool with water. We put a stone into this water. When water waves stopped and surface of the water is smooth then we need to look at the stone residing into the depth of swimming pool. It will look shallow and enlarger due to refraction. Air is the lighter medium as compared to water. When light rays entered into the water from the air, these rays show specific bending. Hence, when these rays entered into the eye, our eyes perceives apparent depth instead of actual depth and object looked enlarger instead of same size we have put into the water. Due to bending in light rays, one closer image is formed in the eye. This is how illusion for shallow and enlarger object in eye is formed. We can systemically can understand this phenomenon from these pictures as well.
Warning
It is the main reason when we dive either into the swimming pool or into the pond or sea. We should not deceived by these illusions of shallowness and enlargement of the objects produced by refraction. Usually we should first know about the exact depth then we should dive.
Conclusion
Refraction is the light magical phenomenon. It produces many illusions for our eyes that are interesting to research.
