I always wondering how come Hong Kong, China, Japan got so many claw machine for the plush doll, you can always see many shop with many claw machines in the shopping mall when you are shopping outside.

If my memory is correct, originally the claw machine is started from Japan then Hong Kong started following their food step, putting many claw machine at the mall with many cute and big plush doll, you only have to pay HK$ 5 dollars for a game, if you are lucky enough, you can grab a nice plush doll by one catching then you save up lot of money to directly buy them at the retail shop.

If you luck is not that good, maybe the money that you spend on the claw machine is enough to get 2 or 3 plush dolls in the retail shop, it's all depends on your luck.

For we Hong Kong Chinese people, it's not strange to the term "claw machine", but when I talk to some westerners this word, sounds they have no idea what am I talking about. Then I start thinking if I am using the wrong term / words on this stuff?

No, no, I double check on google, it's called claw machine. definitely I am using the correct words, how come the people outside Asia usually can't get what I am trying to say?

Or there's another term / word to describe the claw machine? Comment to let me know if you are familiar enough with this stuff, thanks.
