Like the movie and the real basketball rules, it was a 3-on-3 team game. Players have selection to play either Tune Squad or the Monstars. It features basic 2D controls and graphics.

In “Space Jam,” players have the opportunity to control their favorite Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tasmanian Devil, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Foghorn Leghorn, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Pepe Le Pew and Porky Pig, in addition to Michael Jordan, as they compete in action-packed, challenging basketball games.
Or they can control the Monstar team players: Nawt, Bang, Blanko, Bupkus and Pound.
There are also non-playable characters such as Granny, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian, Tweety Bird, Witch Hazel, Gossamer the monstars' boss and Swackhammer.
