Come and walk with me around the Port of Ibiza

Today I was a real tourist, as I went for a walk around the port of Ibiza this Saturday afternoon. Although I have been in this city for almost 2 months, I had not taken the time to go into the little streets of the port.

Last Saturday, I made the decision to go explore this area, since I worked for a month in a bar/restaurant in the area, but as I always went straight to work, I missed the chance to really get to know the port.

At first I even wondered if it was going to be possible to enjoy that sector in the summer.

Since I quit that job, I was able to give myself the gift of walking around as the tourist I still am at this point on the map.

The port of Ibiza is all white and its streets are narrow and look like a labyrinth.

Ven a caminar conmigo por el Puerto de Ibiza

Hoy fui una turista de verdad, al irme este sábado a la tarde a dar un paseo por el puerto de Ibiza. Aunque llevo en esta ciudad casi 2 meses, no me había tomado el momento de adentrarme en las callecitas del puerto.

El pasado sábado, tomé la decisión de ir a explorar ese sector, ya que trabajé durante un mes en un bar/restaurante de la zona, pero como siempre iba directo al trabajo, al final me perdía la posibilidad de realmente conocer el puerto.

Al principio incluso me pregunté si iba a ser posible disfrutar de ese sector en el verano.

Dado a que renuncié a aquel trabajo, pude darme el regalo de caminar por allí como la turista que sigo siendo en este punto del mapa.

El puerto de Ibiza es todo blanco y sus calles son estrechas y parecen un laberinto.

There are a lot of shops of all kinds: those that sell take-out food, those that invite you to sit down, those that sell expensive clothes and those that sell island clothes. There are also souvenir stores and handmade jewelry stores.

Everything is very picturesque in this part of Eivissa, but although there are cheaper products and services inside the port, they are always more expensive than in other parts of town, such as Figueretas.

The port is clearly not this, this is simply the urban infrastructure on one side, but the port is composed of a walkway that has bars and restaurants, on one side is the water, and there is a kind of bridge that simulates the side of a boat.

I had specifically walked the walkway before, but not the bridge area, so I went up.

Hay una gran cantidad de locales de todo tipo: los que venden comidas para llevar, los que te invitan a sentarte, los que venden ropa carísima y los que venden ropa de isla. También hay negocios de recuerdos y de joyas bien artesanales.

Todo es muy pintoresco en esta parte de Eivissa, pero aunque hay productos y servicios más económicos dentro del puerto, siempre son más costosos que en otros sitios de la ciudad, como puede ser Figueretas.

El puerto claramente no es esto, esta es sencillamente la infraestructura urbana a un costado, pero el puerto está compuesto por una pasarela que tiene bares y restaurantes, a un costado está el agua, y hay una especie de puente que simula ser la parte de una embarcación.

Por la pasarela específicamente ya había caminado antes, pero no por la zona del puente, así que subí.

The surroundings of the port of Ibiza are beautiful and very calm. Although there is usually movement, it really breathes peace. Something very interesting is that there are posts with adapters to charge the cell phone, and there is also a very beautiful sculpture of a man with a girl who are walking towards the city. There is a sign that indicates that the sea begins there.

Los alrededores del puerto de Ibiza son preciosos y guardan mucha calma. Aunque suele haber movimiento, realmente se respira paz. Algo muy interesante, es que hay postes con adaptadores para cargar el móvil, y además hay una escultura muy bella de un señor con una niña que están caminando hacia la ciudad. Allí hay un cartel que indica que en ese sitio, empieza el mar.

The scenery from there was beautiful. I was struck by the number and diversity of boats, I could see a cruise ship that was literally a building floating on the water, along with small boats that although they seemed humble, if you paid attention you could see the level of sophistication of them.

As I turned around, having already walked across this bridge, I could see the town of Eivissa rising behind me, revealing at the top the majestic castle, icon of the Balearic Islands.

At the time I was in this sector, the sun was beating quite hard, because the sky was completely clear and it was midday (I recommend doing this hike with a hat and earlier in the morning or at dusk).

After this adventure that I started right from Figueretas, I would have been hungry, so I decided to sit down and have something to eat at the Port.

El paisaje desde allí era precioso. Me llamaron la atención la cantidad y diversidad de embarcaciones, pudiendo ver a un crucero que era literalmente un edificio flotando en el agua, junto a pequeños barcos que aunque parecían humildes, si una le prestaba atención se podía ver en nivel de sofisticación de los mismos.

Al voltearme, ya habiendo caminado por este puente, pude ver cómo detrás mío se elevaba la ciudad de Eivissa, dejando ver en la cima al majestuoso castillo, ícono de las Islas Baleares.

En el momento que estaba por este sector, pegaba bastante fuerte el sol, pues el cielo estaba por completo despejado y era el medio día (recomiendo hacer esta caminata con un sombrero y más temprano durante la mañana o al atardecer).

Después de esta aventura que empecé justamente desde Figueretas, me habría dado hambre, así que decidí sentarme a comer algo en el Puerto.

I ordered 2 slices of pizza and a pitcher of beer (this is what we call pinta in Argentina). This cost me â'¬15, which seemed expensive considering that elsewhere in Eivissa, this same thing would probably have cost â'¬9.

The good thing is that the pizza was delicious.

From here, I continued walking around and enjoying that beautiful day.

Pedí 2 porciones de pizza y una jarra de cerveza (esto es lo que en Argentina llamaos pinta). Esto me salió €15, lo cual me pareció costoso considerando que en otra parte de Eivissa, esto mismo probablemente hubiese salido €9.

Lo bueno es que la pizza estaba deliciosa.

De aquí, seguí paseando y disfrutando de aquel hermoso día.
