Hola amigos espero que se encuentren muy, muy bien, siguiendo con el contenido pendiente de Arequipa les quiero compartir fotos del día "libre" que tuvimos, el domingo. Decidimos ir a conocer un poco de la ciudad blanca como la llaman. Sin embargo el clima no ayudó en absoluto. ¿Les mencioncé que me dio soroche? Bueno el soroche es como se le conoce al malestar por la altitud, un poco de presión en la cabeza, mareos... no recuerdo que otro síntomas. Y aunque no fue nada grave, el frío sí hizo de las suyas.

El clima Arequipeño me sorprendió muchísimo porque al llegar, había mucho sol pero la brisa era fría y en las tardes comenzó a llover. Bueno eso no cambió mucho el domingo. Teníamos pensado ir a conocer el Sillar y estábamos en camino al lugar, pero uno de mis compañeros en el trip (Simón) hizo alusión de las nubes moradas que se estaban formando. El taxista mencionó que en el Sillar no había lugar para evitar la lluvia, así que preferimos cambiar de ruta y llegamos al Mirador de Yanahuara, de ahí estas hermosas fotografías que tomamos junto a @juanarusso, Simón y Angélica.

Este mirador es muy popular, está en la ruta turística para quienes visitan Arequipa, pero es eso un mirador. No hay muchas cosas alrededor a excepción de los artesanos. A mí me gustó porque se veía la ciudad, los volcanes y porque la piedra con la que fue construido el mirador también se encuentra en el sillar (eso dijo el taxista). De hecho Arequipa tiene una belleza colonial muy simpática, el material de construcción lo sacaban de los volcanes que hay alrededor. Es muy coherente el apodo de la Ciudad Blanca, en muchos lugares puede notarse la arquitectura con piedra volcánica que da ese aspecto a las fachadas de color hueso o blanco. Cerca del mirador se encuentra una Iglesia muy notable y bonita, también es colonial. La energía era particular es como una vista al pasado con toques de modernidad, en cada arco del mirador había inscripciones que por lo menos yo no entendí, quizás refieren a hechos específicos de la historia arequipeña.

Luego de este paseo pudimos ir a almorzar en una picantería llamada La Nueva Palomino, y la llovizna comenzó a caer. Pero el frío escaló de nivel, era muy temprano 2-3pm cuando regresamos al lugar donde nos estábamos quedando porque el frío era insufrible y la lluvia no paró, todos estábamos agotados con la travesía, el viaje, la jornada de trabajo en la Universidad. Yo me acosté y me dormí, así que no pude conocer mucho más ni probar muchos platillos típicos de esta hermosa ciudad. Espero regresar y tener tiempo para disfrutar. Mientras deseo que con estas fotos puedan conocer un poco más de Perú, de la arquitectura de Arequipa y su estilo.

Hello friends, I hope you are doing very, very well. Continuing with the pending content from Arequipa, I want to share photos of the "free" day we had, on Sunday. We decided to go explore a bit of the White City, as they call it. However, the weather didn't help at all. Did I mention that I got altitude sickness? Well, altitude sickness is what they call the discomfort from high altitude, a bit of pressure in the head, dizziness... I don't remember what other symptoms. And although it wasn't anything serious, the cold did its damage.

The weather in Arequipa surprised me a lot because when we arrived, there was plenty of sun but the breeze was cold and in the afternoons it started to rain. Well, that didn't change much on Sunday. We planned to go see the Sillar and we were on our way there, but one of my companions on the trip (Simón) pointed out the purple clouds that were forming. The taxi driver mentioned that there was no shelter from the rain at the Sillar, so we preferred to change route and arrived at the Yanahuara Lookout, where we took these beautiful photographs with @juanarusso, Simón, and Angélica.

This viewpoint is very popular, it's on the tourist route for those visiting Arequipa, but it's just a viewpoint. There aren't many things around except for the artisans. I liked it because you could see the city, the volcanoes, and because the stone with which the viewpoint was built is also found in the Sillar (that's what the taxi driver said). In fact, Arequipa has a very charming colonial beauty, the construction material was taken from the volcanoes surrounding it. The nickname "White City" is very fitting, in many places you can see the architecture with volcanic stone that gives that bone or white color to the facades. Near the viewpoint, there is a very remarkable and beautiful church, also colonial. The energy was particular, it's like a glimpse into the past with touches of modernity, in each arch of the viewpoint there were inscriptions that at least I didn't understand, perhaps they refer to specific events in Arequipa's history.

After this walk, we were able to have lunch at a picantería called La Nueva Palomino, and the drizzle began to fall. But the cold escalated, it was very early, around 2-3 pm when we returned to where we were staying because the cold was unbearable and the rain didn't stop, we were all exhausted from the journey, the trip, the workday at the University. I lay down and fell asleep, so I couldn't explore much more or try many typical dishes of this beautiful city. I hope to return and have time to enjoy. In the meantime, I hope that with these photos you can get to know a little more about Peru, about the architecture of Arequipa, and its style.
