So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the third topic for this week which is “THE GOOD PRESSURE”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “TECHNOLOGY AND PROFIT”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community sharing their thoughts with us on the effects of technology when utilized in sourcing our food. From the use of preservatives and other forms of chemicals used to increase the yield of crops, ensure they survive against pests, and also survive harsh climates.
We got to see the different opinions on this subject. This is something that many of us can’t avoid. With the more sophisticated that technology gets on the farm, the less nutritional our food become. And this cuts across all forms of agriculture. It’s just sad.

This author told us about the farming processes and how it has grown in leaps and bounds over the centuries, extending even beyond the farm and into laboratories. And while this is good to ensure enough food for the teeming population, it also brings to the fore some major risks like the increased rate of illnesses today, the reduced nutritional value of the food we eat. All these are the consequences of technology.

For this author, he feels that there can be a balance to everything, including the effect that technology has on our food. The rate at which humans consume food has increased, and as a result, the need to produce more food also increased, necessitating the need for these machineries, so that it would be able to take care of our needs.

For this author, he has no issue with the use of technology in farming and the effect it has on the quality of the food. He’s of the opinion that technology plays a huge role in farming and because of that so many disasters are able to averted. So, as longa s technology allows for everyone to be well-fed, then it’s all good.
