Childhood was fun. Whenever I come across a topic that asks us to share a piece of our childhood, I'm always eager to participate. Aside from cartoons and certain animations, movies like High School Musical were always my favorites. That is how I came across **Let It Shine** by Coco Jones one weekend.

I can vividly remember the scenes as if it were yesterday. It was on a Sunday after mass; my parents had gone out for a marriage planning committee meeting, and we were left to watch movies at home. That is how my siblings and I got to watch Let It Shine—the shy James, the infectious smile of Coco Jones, and her vocals amazed all of us, mainly because they were children like us, and they looked so self-aware and intelligent.

Let It Shine is a 2012 American musical movie that premiered on Disney Channel. The film stars Tyler James Williams as Cyrus DeBarge, a shy and talented teenager who writes rap songs under the pseudonym "Truth."
When Cyrus submits one of his songs to a local music competition, Kris, his best friend whose photo was also on the album, claims ownership of the song, and Cyrus has no choice but to watch his beautiful romantic verses being delivered to his crush by his best friend. Cyrus must overcome his shyness and navigate the challenges of an unsupportive father, his music career, and friendship. Cyrus's character and the street rap battle are very relatable to what we saw in our school social system. My siblings were literally rooting for his success, while I was most concerned with the beautiful smiles and light spirit of Coco Jones.

This is an exciting and entertaining movie that will appeal to fans of music, dance, and high school stories. I remember rewatching this movie with my family countless times; we learned the songs and sang along whenever we could. Wether you are an adult or a growing young individual, this movie has a lot to offer from the character roles and plot twist.
If you enjoy films like "High School Musical" or "Camp Rock," I'm sure you'll love this one.
I will give it a 4.5/5 because I still enjoy the movie, and the soundtracks too can never gets old.
