Greetings, my dear hivers friends. Today I am back to share with you again a very special game. This has been for years one of my favorite games. I am referring to nothing more and nothing less than American Truck Simulator.
After dedicating many hours to it, I dare to say that it is one of the best in its genre. I have had the opportunity to try many similar games and so far none has transmitted me the immersion and realism that this one is able to offer.
But so that you can see for yourself, in this publication I will tell you its most notable features, the things I like most about it, the achievements I have achieved, among many other things. Well, if you are ready, let's get started, never better said.😅
What is the game about?
American Truck Simulator, as its name suggests, is a truck driving simulator that puts you behind the wheel of powerful cargo vehicles, which exist in real life. Your goal is to build and expand your own trucking company, delivering cargo on time and taking care not to damage it.
In the beginning, we are just simple truck drivers. We will have no money and no truck of our own, so we will have to work for other companies to earn income.
As we gain experience and money, we will be able to buy our own trucks, found our own company, as well as hire drivers and open new routes to increase our profits.
You also have another possibility, in the game there is a bank that can lend you money to advance faster and buy your own vehicle. But we must be careful, because the loans have a time limit and if we can not pay on time, huge debts accumulate that will hinder your playing experience.
The things I like the most:
Now that you have an idea about what the game is about, I'd like to tell you a bit about the things I like and enjoy most about this title. For example:
Picturesque Landscapes:
One of the things I love the most is the great diversity of landscapes we can find within the game. From arid deserts to lush forests, beaches and most of the cities in the United States.
Best of all, the details are very well taken care of, including elements that bring the gameplay experience to life, such as majestic mountains, meandering rivers and changing skies.
I'm pleased that the developers not only focused on creating realistic trucks, but also made an effort to make the world around us in the game detailed and immersive.
DLC updates:
Another very interesting thing that I like is that the game often receives DLC updates from the creators. From time to time new routes are expanded, new truck brands and models are added, and the graphical details of the world are improved, among many other things.
But the game receives attention not only from the development team, but also from the active community of modders. These create unique skins for the trucks, as well as notable graphical improvements that do not come in the original game.
The Mechanics:
Of course, I can't fail to mention the game's mechanics. These, without a doubt, are what make the title special. I like that thought has been put into almost everything, for example, the steering of the vehicle.
To put it in context, in most driving games, when you release the key to turn right or left, the front wheels immediately turn forward. However, in the game we are talking about, when you release the key, the wheels will remain stationary until you turn them manually.
That small detail adds an undeniable realism to the game. And that's just one example of the many mechanics that the game has. In fact I could create a post just dedicated to them.
But I'll mention one more thing: every action you perform, such as turning on the lights, activating the parking brake or shifting gears, has its respective controls in the cockpit, and each button has its own unique movement.
Customization:
If there is one thing that stands out and that I love about American Truck Simulator, it's the sheer amount of options it offers to customize your truck to your liking. You can do literally everything.
From paint changes, parts, engine, bodywork, cab, interior and a huge etcetera. It's definitely crazy the amount of things you can customize. And this aspect, without a doubt, is one of my favorites. And if you add to this the mods it blows your mind. Haha.😅
What I would like to improve:
Like everything in this life, not everything is perfect, so I can't fail to mention something I'd like to see improved. I am referring to the physics. Unfortunately, it seems that some details were not taken into account when creating the game.
You can't perceive things like physical damage to the body of our vehicle or others around us. Without a doubt, I would have liked to have been able to see some of this when impacting with some object.
But I'm not giving up hope that I'll be able to see it someday, since, as I said earlier, the game is in constant development. Maybe the developers or modders will bring us physics on impact at some point.
Some Jugavility details.
Something you should know is that this is not GTA, so you won't be able to go around razing half the world to the ground.😅 There are some rules and traffic laws.
Every impact, accident or traffic infraction you cause in the game will cost you money and the worst thing is that the more you repeat them the higher the fine will be. So you know, be careful.
In the game there is a tiredness system, if you drive for a long time without sleeping you will fall asleep at the wheel. Because of this you will cause an accident and you will receive a time and money penalty.
If you get stuck on a ledge, your vehicle runs out of fuel or you receive enough damage to be unable to move, you have the option to call the road service. But there is a catch, you will have to waste a lot of time and you will have to pay a good amount of money.
Tip: There are workshops that you can go to personally and not have to use the road service, this works out better as you save time and money.
My Achievements in American Truck Simulator:
Throughout my time playing American Truck Simulator, I have managed to reach several achievements and goals that have filled me with satisfaction and pride. I want to share with you some of my most outstanding achievements:
I am currently at level 42 (Very High).
I have achieved all the skills in the game.
I have 80 trucks, 77 drivers, 16 garages and a bankroll of 32 million dollars (I wish they were real) haha.
Summary and Opinions:
Well my dear friends, as you may have noticed, this is a very complete game. It is full of features that make it ideal for all simulation game lovers. After playing it for quite some time, I give it a score of 9/10. I don't give it a 10 because of the comments I made about the physics.
Otherwise, it's a great title, full of fun and above all immersion. I assure you that you will feel like a real driver. So you know, let's play it.
