In 2019 I had the pleasure of hearing Till Brönner and Dieter Ilg live at Jerichow Monastery
Till Brönner ist einer der besten Trompeter der Welt und zusammen mit Dieter Ilg machen sie wirklich tolle Musik. 2019 spielten die beiden live im Kloster Jerichow. Wir reservierten uns Karten und machten einen Ausflug dorthin.
Das Kloster Jerichow ist schon alleine einen Besuch wert.
Die Anlage des Klosters Jerichow ist heute in sich geschlossen. Im Süd-Osten ist noch in großen Bereichen die mittelalterliche Klostermauer erhalten, im Nord-Westen runden neuzeitliche Ställe und Scheunen das Areal ab. Im Zentrum der Gesamtanlage liegen die romanische Stiftskirche und die südlich an diese angebaute Klausur. Im Erdgeschoss der Klausur sind die Räume noch in ihrer mittelalterlichen Ausprägung erfahrbar. Das Areal des Klostergartens lädt zum Verweilen ein. Nach mittelalterlichem Vorbild angelegt lädt der Klostergarten mit seinen Flach- und Hochbeeten zum Entdecken ein.
Wir hatten Proviant und Decken dabei für ein Picknick am Nachmittag in der Nähe des Klosters bevor wir uns dann gegen Abend ins Innere des Kloster begeben haben um der Musik zu lauschen.
Erstaunlicherweise waren nicht so viele Zuhörer gekommen und so gab es reichlich Platz im Klosterhof um unsere Decken auszubreiten. (Leider habe ich nur noch wenige Fotos in schlechter Qualität. Bessere sind durch einen Crash nicht mehr lesbar).

Die Musik war einfach toll und dann noch in diesem Ambiente im Freien in einer lauen Sommernacht. Das war eines der schönsten Konzerte, wenn nicht das schönste, das ich besucht habe.

Till Brönner is one of the best trumpeters in the world and together with Dieter Ilg they make really great music. In 2019 the two played live in Jerichow Monastery. We reserved tickets and took a trip there.
The Jerichow Monastery is worth a visit alone.
The Jerichow Monastery complex is now self-contained. In the south-east, large areas of the medieval monastery wall have been preserved; in the north-west, modern stables and barns round off the area. In the center of the entire complex are the Romanesque collegiate church and the enclosure attached to the south. On the ground floor of the retreat, the rooms can still be experienced in their medieval form. The monastery garden area invites you to linger. Designed according to a medieval model, the monastery garden with its flat and raised beds invites you to explore.
We had provisions and blankets with us for a picnic in the afternoon near the monastery before we went inside the monastery in the evening to listen to the music.
Surprisingly, not that many listeners came and so there was plenty of space in the monastery courtyard to spread out our blankets. (Unfortunately I only have a few poor quality photos left. Better ones are no longer readable due to a crash).

The music was just great in this outdoor ambience on a warm summer night. This was one of the most beautiful concerts, if not the most beautiful, that I have attended.
