Last night, I was clueless of what to eat and so I revisited the Springleaf area to check on the restaurants that I haven’t tried before. I was prepared to eat Briyani, Yong Tau Foo, or Kway Chap however, when I passed by the Bak Ku Teh shop I was encouraged to check the menu.
I think they did a clever job of leaving menus on the table so that the people who are just passing by will be able to check on what they offer.
As soon I sat down, the waiter or owner came to me and ask for my order. The pork ribs with prawn noodles looks good but it’s out of stock so I went for the Chicken in Sesame Oil claypot.
In the claypot is 5 pieces of wings and it only costs for S$7.00. I would say that it’s more expensive than what I thought because the chicken wings were not that big. However, the small portion was compensated by the bug flavors of this dish.
It was still sizzling hot when it arrived my table so I took a few minutes of pause until it settles down.
Together with this dish is a bowl of rice for an additional cost of S$0.70.
I also received a complimentary herbal soup which is very good. It taste nice, rich, with a hint of bitterness to it because of the herbs that was boiled together with it.
The chicken wings are tender and it taste rich because of the its sauce. It’s so good that I poured it on the rice. The flavor of the sauce has a dominant sesame taste.
It’s already 8:00 PM and there are still customers who are coming to dine. It’s a simple place but because of the good food, they have a lot of loyal customers.
