Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - De música ligera: Soda Stereo

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Fuck Wit Dre Day: Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is De música ligera of the argentine rockband Soda Stereo. If there is one song that anyone in my country knows and loves, it is one of Soda Stereo's light music. Their music transcends genres and generations, and even non-rock fans recognize it instantly.

Since I was a kid I remember I was a big fan of the Soda Stereo band and enjoyed their songs like “De música ligera”, “Profugos”, “Persiana Americana” and “Nada Personal”. However, as time went by I lost the taste for them and stopped listening to the band.

Only a year ago, I discovered almost all the musical works of Gustavo Cerati as a soloist, the main member of the group Soda Stereo. That led me to give the band another chance, and I was not disappointed. Thanks to it, I discovered my favorite song of the group: Trátame Suavemente.

Soda Stereo is the most iconic band of rock en español, and their numbers and international tours confirm it.

Soda Stereo was founded in 1982 by composer and vocalist Gustavo Cerati, bassist Zeta Bosio and drummer Charly Alberti. In the late 90's, they released their first album: Soda Stereo. The album quickly became a local hit, featuring songs such as Te hacen falta vitaminas and Tratame suavemente.

However, the real national success was achieved with their album “Canción animal” released in 1990. It is considered the best album of the group and contains hits such as “De música ligera”, “Té para tres” and “Hombre al agua”.

De música ligera is Soda Stereo's most famous song, which as I said before, has transcended musical genres. The hit has 626 million plays on Spotify and 200 million on Youtube. It is considered one of the most emblematic songs of Rock en Español, according to MTV and Rolling Stone magazine.
