Let’s Crochet A Beach Themed Phone Case

in voilk •  5 months ago

Hello everyone, I’m here today to show you all another project which was done with yarn leftover. This particular post is dedicated to @crosheille. She has inspired so many of us and we’ll never forget the impact she has had on the community and our individual lives as needleworkers. Thank you so much for everything.

After I made the headphone cover, I started getting so many ideas of what to do with the rest of the yarn and on top of the list was a phone case.
After thinking about what kind of phone case to make I decided to make a beach themed one since my favorite place to be in the world is the beach.
I used about 5 hours to make this case after so many tries and errors.

The hardest thing was the color combination. It was really hard to bring out the little details in a beach setting but I tried my best and it was also hard to crochet miniatures since I’m not a big fan of tight stitches.
    The materials I used were:
    • Leftover yarn
    • 1.60mm crochet hook
    • needle
    • a pair of scissors

    Procedure

I started crocheting by using my phone case(iphone 11) as the reference measurement because at the end, the case should be able to cover the phone cover(if that makes sense). I started with the cream yarn and made about 12 single crochet foundation. (Extra explanation: This is not like the normal single crochet where you make chains before making the single crochets. With this you make two chains and make a single crochet in the first chain and as you continue you’ll see a v shape so that’s where you’ll keep on making the single crochet)
So I kept on changing the colours and brought to life my own colours of a beach, from the sand to the clouds.
When I was getting up, I had to mark the phone camera side to make sure not to crochet and cover where the camera would be. I now made half double crochets around what I had made and made spaces for the charging dock and volume buttons. I then used the normal yarn and needle to make the waves on the cover after all, what’s a beach without waves.

I was done with the beach setting and had to add the “beach accessories”
I now crocheted a beach tree, sea shells, starfishes and of course the sun.
For the “beach accessories”, I started with the tree. I made about 7 chains with brown yarn and then changed the color to green.
I now crocheted five branches with single crochets.
For the seashells, I chained two and made 5 double crochets in the first chain.(simple right)
For the star fish and the sun, I followed the same pattern.
I crocheted a ring and then made the tails with single crochets and half double crochets.
I now attached them onto the case I had already made with the yarn and needle. Ideally, a thread is better but I had to improvise.

I was now done with the case.

I love that I get to explore as a crocheter. I love this work and I hope you like it. Thank you for your time.
