This is called the creativity in the making. Using cane to perform a lot of decorations for homes and offices not only this but also as events decorations. Sometimes ago when my in-law wanted to get married this was all it took us as at that time for over so many thousands of naira to make it done with the renters. I was also wondering for how long does it take them to prepare all this even from the scratch.
To be honest the king work has gone far from the ancient way it has been. Once I was growing up I literally know that they cane is used for decoration. But not up to this extent. Nowadays it is mainly used for different items in Making not in an ancient way or this where it is only used for making Basket or Hat. I have seen some cases whereby it is been used for 3-seater chair,two sitter chair and also just single chair. I got to know more when I visited this particular location yeah in the town where I reside. In ilorin town. I have also seen some several places whereby this particular profession is being carried out for their daily consumption ,for rentage and also for people to make their own. I took some pictures of the Cane work as I move from one section to another with the permission granted.
It is also necessary to seek for permission if you are going to snap a lot of pictures so that it will not be as if you are coping their work for others.
- This is a mini basket which is also useful for transporting fruits, items from one place to another but notin the large quantity as seen.
- This is the modern basket that is being used for ceremonies. And it is also of different sizes for different purposely as well.
On this note, combination of one sitter chair making it double sitter. It can be used for offices, homes, relaxation centers and so on.
This is just like a flat surface which can be used to cover Came work such as flower vase.
I also waited patiently to ask a lot of questions from the woman that is the head of this particular Cane work workshop. One of my question I asked was that how often do people come to purchase this Cane works?
She reluctantly replied me that people nowaday uses a lot of King work for so many purposes which also attract a lot of people to bring their work and deposit for it immediately.. Yes I was also aware because even when you visit wedding ceremonies here in Africa or let me come down to Nigeria, you will hardly see occasions without them using different cane works designs and decorations.
- I also saw the flower vase of different sizes has been made from the Cane work. Guess what the crisis are not even lesser. When I initiate a conversation that what if I want to buy in pieces not in dozen prices. I was meant to understand that the prices are doubled now not like before. The economy is running off.
These are also flower vase but off another two type of purpose it can be used for flower vase. And for other two purposes. It can be used as flower vase or use as Purse. That has cover. You can keep equipment or tools in it as I was told.
