I had never been much of a beer drinker, because I only had the impression that it was bitter and filled me up quickly. But since joining this #BeerSaturday, one of my favorite things to do when I go to the supermarket is to look at the beer shelves. Thanks again to @zekepickleman for inviting me to this community and @detlev for hosting this event! 😍
This week I drank an Ebisu "Juicy Ale" while eating a potato stack. The manufacturer is Sapporo, a major and popular manufacturer in Japan along with Kirin and Asahi.
I bought "Juicy Ale" at a store because of the design of this refreshing can. I later learned that it was available in limited quantities from the 23rd of this month! It is the fourth product in the new "CREATIVE BREW" line of the Yebisu brand, and the first Yebisu brand product to use fruit juice (grapefruit).
I wanted something hot to eat with them, so I decided to make potato pizza with potatoes and cheese that I had at home. I have been making this potato stack from time to time since I saw how to make it on a video site, and it is a hit with my kids.
Peel and slice potatoes, then sprinkle with a little potato starch. Place pizza cheese between the slices and brown on both sides. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper and dried basil (or parsley). Cut into bite-sized pieces.
Now, back to the "Juicy Ale". Poured into a glass, it has a refreshing golden color and a clean, citrusy aroma. It is said to be a partial cross between "Nelson Sauvin," a hop with a white grape-like aroma, and "Polaris," a hop with a mint-like aroma... but maybe my nose is crazy, or maybe I couldn't smell the "white grape-like aroma"!
However, like the design of the can, it had a very refreshing aroma and flavor. Although it is made with fruit juice, there is almost no sweetness. If anything, it has a bitter taste, which made the potato pizza I just made taste even better.
When I started feeling slightly dizzy, I played the horror movie "MAMA" on my PC, which I had been wanting to watch for a long time. I am not a particular fan of horror movies, but sometimes I want to watch them. The story was about two young sisters lost in the woods and raised by ghosts, but it was not as scary as I had expected.
The only thing I remember was that the man who seemed to be the main character was always knocked out by the ghost's attack at the crucial moment, and he left all the difficult phases to his girlfriend... Was it because I was drunk on beer? 😅
Still, I was very happy to spend a pleasant afternoon with potato pizza, beer, and a movie. As noted above, the "Juicy Ale" is only available in limited quantities, so if you're interested, give it a try!

これまでビールはあまり飲めなかったのが、この#BeerSaturdayに参加して以来、買い物に行くとビールの棚を眺めるのが楽しみの一つになりました。このコミュニティに誘ってくれた@zekepicklemanさんと、長い間イベントを主催してくださっている@detlevさんに改めて感謝です！
今週はポテトスタックをつまみながらエビスの「ジューシーエール」を飲みました。メーカーはサッポロで、キリンやアサヒと並んで日本では人気の大手メーカーです。
「ジューシーエール」は、店頭でこの爽やかな缶のデザインに惹かれて買いました。あとで知ったのですが、今月23日より数量限定で発売されているものでした。ヱビスブランドの新ライン「CREATIVE BREW」第4弾で、ヱビスブランドとしては初めて果汁（グレープフルーツ）を使用した製品だそうです。
一緒に温かいものを食べたかったので、家にあったジャガイモとチーズでいもピザを作ることにしました。このいもピザは以前動画サイトで作り方を見て以来時々作るのですが、子どもたちにも好評です。
ジャガイモの皮を剥き、スライスしたら、片栗粉を少しまぶします。ピザ用チーズを挟み、両面をこんがりと焼く。塩胡椒と乾燥バジル（パセリでもOK）を振って完成です。一口大にカットしておきます。
さて、肝心のジューシーエールの方ですが。注いでみると爽やかな金色で、柑橘系のスッキリした香り。白葡萄のような香りのホップ「ネルソンソーヴィン」と、ミントのような香りのホップ「ポラリス」を一部掛け合わせているらしいですが…私の鼻がおかしかったのか、「白葡萄のような香り」は分かりませんでした😅
しかし缶のデザイン同様、なんとも爽やかな香りと風味。果汁使用ではあるものの甘味はほとんど感じません。どちらかというと苦みがあり、先ほど作ったいもピザが進む進む…。
若干目が回ってきたところで、以前から気になっていたホラー映画『MAMA』を再生。ホラー映画は特別好きというわけではないのですが、時々観たくなるんですよね。森で迷子になった幼い姉妹が、幽霊に育てられるというストーリーでしたが、期待していたような怖さではありませんでした。まあまあ不気味ではありましたが。
主人公らしき男性が肝心な場面でいつも幽霊にやられて気絶していて、大変な局面は全て恋人に丸投げであったことだけが妙に記憶に残りました… ビールで酔っ払っていたせいかな？😅
それでもいもピザとビールに映画と、楽しい午後を過ごせて大満足です。上でも書いた通り、「ジューシーエール」は数量限定だそうなので、興味のある方はぜひお試しください！
