My Visit To A Poultry Farm

    Hello Hivians
How'd your weekend and Monday go?
    Well mine was great
So last weekend i visited a poultry farm of one of my church members.
It's my first time in this community and I thought i should share what I know about poultry farming

Poultry and fish farming in Nigeria is very prevalent
Especially in the southern and eastern parts of Nigeria.
Poultry farming is simply the rearing of birds.
One of the outstanding parts of Agriculture in Nigeria is rearing of live stock from poultry birds like hens, turkeys, ducks and guinea fowls to Animal livestock like goats, cows, pigs and rabbits , to rearing of fish like catfish and tilapia.

My church member majorly rears broilers hens.
She built a very innovative and creative building for them,it is built in storeys. she's quite an industrious woman as she rears fish as well , but I'll be majoring mainly on the Poultry farming.
Usually, broilers and layers are reared in poultry farms. Broilers are reared for their meat while layers are reared for their eggs.

To start a poultry farm there are a lot of things you will need, it's a business and it has its gains and losses .
The hens could get sick and die and many other stuff that could happen and cause losses. You have to give your broilers or layers the adequate amount of food and water with their right supplements as well to aid their growth. A broiler is ready to be sold out with six to eight weeks, that's a period of two months .

To start a poultry farm you need the following:
1)A good capital to start with

    1. A poultry house, preferably one built with concrete
    2. Light bulbs and lanterns
      4)water containers and food cans
    3. sawdust for easy cleaning of waste
      6)Egg crates for layers
    4. battery cage system for layers
8)A lot of courage and a spirit of hardwork because it's not an easy task 😄

When I went there i helped to feed the hens ,it brought back memories of when I used to help my dad out in his poultry farm when I was younger.
