Eating Right = Living Right

Life is short, and there’s no time for bad food.- Marie Curie

They say you are what you eat but most at times we barely know who we are because we don’t eat right. When I say eating right, I’m talking about eating healthy.

Food is something we all can’t do away with. For some of us, we are food lovers while some of us aren’t. But that doesn’t mean we don’t eat, we do. Personally, I’m very picky when it comes to eating. It’s not everything I eat and I pay very close attention to my eating habits. I love food , but only when it’s good food. This is why I’m not really a big fan of eating outside.

Everyone has their preference when it comes for food. For some it’s soupy food, others prefer rice meals , while some prefer leafy meals or even junk. No matter what your preference may be, you still have to find a balance amidst it all.

Personally, I eat a lot of vegetables and I never get tired of it. But even though I love vegetables, I make sure to change my diet very often. Even goats need a break from grass sometimes.😂

I’ve had so many people around me complain about their health these days and so today, I want to share a few tips with you on how to eat healthy because healthy eating is a healthy you.

    Drink a lot of water.

The importance of drinking water with the current weather conditions cannot be overemphasized. There are people that can go a whole day without drinking water which is bad. This first thing you should do when you wake up every morning is to drink water. It helps your immune and digestive systems and also helps keep you healthy.

We should make it a point to drink water throughout the day so we can stay hydrated. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to get dehydrated in this season.

    Eat fruits.

Most people pay little to attention to fruit’s because we can all attest to the fact that fruits are expensive these days. Even though fruits are expensive, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take good care of ourselves. What’s the value of the money we are struggling everyday to make if we can’t take good care of ourselves.

If you can’t afford to eat fruits everyday, you should at least try to have them once to twice a week. Most fruits contain antioxidants which protect you from disease and many more.

Eat balanced diet and take in well cooked meals.

People who eat outside are mostly prone to coming down with food poisoning because most of these foods are not prepared well. Sometimes I go out to buy rice from a restaurant and the rice is half cooked. You ask about it and they tell you ‘that’s how people like it’. That’s the last time that particular restaurant is ever going to hear from me.

Eating a balanced diet is also very important for our general health as individuals. This way, you are able to get nutrients from the variety of foods you take in on daily basis. Can’t be eating garri and beans all time. Substitute it with rice or spaghetti sometimes. That’s the way to healthy living.

I hope these tips are helpful to anyone out there. Thanks for reading.
