One night, a cockroach entered the kitchen in search of leftovers, the place was dark and this protected it from being seen.
As it rummaged through the rubbish, a soft glow of light caught its attention and it looked up in alarm, imagining the worst.
Above the bin was a firefly, illuminating the area with its soft flame.
-Go away, -the cockroach shouted. -Your light gives me away.
The firefly ignored him and continued its soft glow.
It was then that the cockroach realised that not everyone is threatened by the light of others.
And that for humans the insect's glow was almost imperceptible, while for her it helped her to see what she was looking for.
From then on, the cockroach was grateful for the company of the firefly at night.
Moral of the story: Sometimes, bringing light where there is darkness helps both the bearer and the beholder.
