Entramos en el mes de las olimpíadas y para muchos llega la hora de las confirmaciones, por supuesto también algunas decepciones que nunca faltan en el capricho de los rankings, los torneos clasificatorios y las marcas.
Una gran alegría, aunque esperada, fue el ingreso de nuestro equipo de voleibol gracias a su buena actuación en la liga mundial.
Con 135 atletas se cerró la lista de la delegación argentina a los próximos juegos olímpicos que se desarrollarán a partir del 26 de este mes de julio en la ciudad francesa de París.
Esta delegación pese a ser una de las más numerosas, está lejos de los 187 atletas que participaron cuatro años atrás en Tokio, sin embargo, cantidad no significa más triunfos, solo oportunidades que en ocasiones se confirman y en otras no. En aquellos juegos que dejarán pronto de ser los últimos, logramos una modestísima cosecha de 3 medallas, una de plata y dos de bronce, a las que se sumaron 9 diplomas olímpicos, fue todo lo que se consiguió ocupando de esa forma el puesto 72 en el medallero general de la competencia.
Una buena noticia para la delegación argentina es la confirmación del ingreso de la campeona panamericana de los 3000 metros con vallas, Belén Casetta quien en 2023 consiguió el oro en Santiago de Chile. El ingreso de Belén no hubiera sido un problema serio hasta fines del año anterior pero una lesión la mantuvo alejada de las competencias y esto provocó su descenso en los rankings que determinan quien sí y quien no podrá estar en esta próxima cita olímpica; con el cierre de los puntajes finalmente la atleta nacional dirá presente gracias a la buena cosecha de puntos obtenidos durante competencias nacionales y europeas en los últimos meses. Belén es simpática y carismática, es una defensora a ultranza de la maternidad en las atletas de alta competencia, ella, madre de Lina, va a todos lados con su beba, son inseparables.
En atletismo la delegación nacional tendrá 6 representantes, además de la ya mencionada Belén habrá otras 2 en la rama femenina de la maratón, un corredor en los 400 metros, uno en lanzamiento de bala y otro en la especialidad de lanzamiento de martillo.
También el BMX tendrá por primera vez dos representantes nacionales y como siempre las delegaciones más numerosas y con más chances de obtener buenos resultados están por el lado de los deportes de equipo, tendremos algunas buenas oportunidades en fútbol masculino, hockey sobre césped tanto femenino como masculino, rugby seven, handbol y vóleibol todos ellos en la rama masculina.
Otras delegaciones numerosas se encuentran por el lado del tenis con 8 representantes, la vela con 7 y el remo con 4. El resto de la delegación se divide en otras especialidades deportivas como el canotaje (2), el ciclismo de ruta (1), equitación (3), esgrima (1), golf (2), natación (2), pentatlón moderno (1), remo (4), skateboard (2), taekuondo (1), tenis de mesa (1), tiro (3), tiro con arco (1), y triatlón (1).
Manteniendo las reservas del caso, diremos que no se esperan grandes logros más allá de algunos deportes de equipo donde generalmente sobresalen nuestros atletas y se las ingenian para estar encaramados en las posiciones de privilegio. Eso no quita que les deseemos a todos muchísima suerte y lo mejor en esta competencia que es la máxima expresión del deporte mundial.

With 135 athletes, the list of the Argentine delegation to the next Olympic games was closed, which will take place starting on July 26 in the French city of Paris.
This delegation, despite being one of the largest, is far from the 177 athletes who participated four years ago in Tokyo. However, quantity does not mean more triumphs, only opportunities that are sometimes confirmed and other times not. In those games that will soon cease to be the last, we achieved a very modest harvest of 3 medals, one silver and two bronze, to which were added 9 Olympic diplomas, which was all that was achieved, thus occupying 72nd place in the overall medal table of the competition.
Good news for the Argentine delegation is the confirmation of the entry of the Pan-American 3000-meter hurdles champion, Belén Casetta, who in 2023 won gold in Santiago, Chile. Belén's entry would not have been a serious problem until the end of the previous year, but an injury kept her away from competitions and this caused her descent in the rankings that determine who can and cannot be in this next Olympic event; With the closing of the scores, the national athlete will finally be present thanks to the good harvest of points obtained during national and European competitions in recent months. Belén is nice and charismatic, she is a staunch defender of motherhood in highly competitive athletes, she, Lina's mother, goes everywhere with her baby, they are inseparable.
In athletics, the national delegation will have 6 representatives, in addition to the aforementioned Belén there will be another 2 in the women's branch of the marathon, a runner in the 400 meters, one in the shot put and another in the hammer throw specialty.
BMX will also have two national representatives for the first time and, as always, the largest delegations with the most chances of obtaining good results are on the team sports side. We will have some good opportunities in men's soccer, and both men's and women's field hockey, rugby seven, handball, and volleyball, all of them in the men's branch.
Other large delegations are on the tennis side with 8 representatives, sailing with 7, and rowing with 4. The rest of the delegation is divided into other sports specialties such as canoeing (2), road cycling (1), horse riding (3), fencing (1), golf (2), swimming (2), modern pentathlon (1), rowing (4), skateboard (2), taekwondo (1), table tennis (1), shooting (3), archery (1), and triathlon (1).
Keeping the reservations of the case, we will say that great achievements are not expected beyond some team sports where our athletes generally excel and manage to be perched in privileged positions. That does not mean that we wish everyone a lot of luck and the best in this competition that is the highest expression of world sport.
