Luego de un tiempo sin ir al cine, consideramos que era una oportunidad interesante para ir a ver lo que más nos llamara la atención. Es así que fuimos a ver The Substance, una película dirigida por Cotalie Fargeat y protagonizada por Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley y Dennis Quaid. El género de la película es terror corporal y drama. Ya habíamos visto un par de criticas bastante controversiales de la película y eso aumento mucho más nuestras expectativas.
Es así que en horas de la noche asistimos a nuestro cine de costumbre con la intención de ver algo distinto y créannos que así fue, nos encontramos con una película muy distinta de lo que vimos en el trailer, aunque ya éste nos había dado algunas pistas. Sabíamos que el tema físico y superficial iba a ser el tema principal, pero no estábamos preparados para lo que vimos, sobre todo al final de película.
After a while without going to the movies, we thought it was an interesting opportunity to see whatever caught our attention. So we went to see The Substance, a film directed by Cotalie Fargeat and starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid. The genre of the film is body horror and drama. We had already seen a couple of rather controversial reviews of the movie and that raised our expectations a lot more.
So in the evening we went to our usual movie theater with the intention of seeing something different and believe us, we found a movie very different from what we saw in the trailer, although the trailer had already given us some clues. We knew that the physical and superficial theme was going to be the main topic, but we were not prepared for what we saw, especially at the end of the movie.
Es así que no pude realizar la reseña en caliente al salir del cine y tuve que irme a casa para poder pensar con mayor claridad y hablarles objetivamente sobre ésta película que tal y como dice el título del post, los dejará perplejos. So I couldn't do the review in the heat of the moment after leaving the theater and I had to go home to be able to think more clearly and talk objectively about this film that, as the title of the post says, will leave you perplexed.
