It's Christmas season and for me this song describes the mercies and Love of God to have send His only begotten son down to earth for my sake.
I am not worthy of the sacrifice but because God's mercy and love endureth forever, He wanted me to still be closer to Him regardless of my sinful nature and so, He gave me an option again to be save and that is the gift of His son Jesus Christ.
