Don't fall in love, stand instead

Love is a beautiful thing. It is sweet. But sometimes it can get sour. Love can be a manipulative tool. The truth is, love is a double-edged sword, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't love.

If I were to give anyone advice, it would be that they should be careful about who and how they fall in love. Hence, the statement "Don't fall in love, stand instead". In this context, falling in love means blindly loving someone. Sometimes, we fall in love, and we stop thinking when it comes to the person we love. This can be detrimental. When you love, you give the other person power, which is okay, but what if it's with the wrong person?

The wrong person would manipulate your love. The wrong person would take advantage of it. This is why we have to be careful about who we give our hearts to. We have to make sure that when we love someone, that person is the right person. We have to be sure that the person we love will cherish that love, protect it and nurture it with everything they've got. Love is not something you can easily take back. It takes a long time for the love we have for someone to fade. That's why when things don't work out, moving on is usually difficult. Some people never really move on.

This is why you need to get it right from the start by ensuring you choose the right person.

Furthermore, you shouldn't love in a way that it would be detrimental to you.

There are many people unhappy in their relationships. I've seen people who stopped doing the things they love because of their lover. Some people give up on their dreams because of who they love. Some people even stop talking to their parents, siblings and friends just because they fell in love. This takes us back to the fact that love should never be detrimental.

Life is too short for one to be unhappy in a relationship. To be honest, when a person truly and adequately loves you, that person wouldn't want you to do things that would be to your detriment or do things that would make you unhappy.

I think we all need to sit back, think and ask ourselves critical questions when it comes to love. Does this love make me become a better version of myself? Is this love beneficial to me or is it detrimental? Do I have peace?

When we fall in love blindly and the relationship eventually breaks, the resulting heart break is usually intense for most people. Some people change forever for the worst. Some people snap. They nurse a crack that can't be fixed.

When things fall, they break, despite our best efforts, in spite of our best efforts. Hence, don't fall in love, stand instead.
