Great proposal this week! It is wonderful to be able to pay tribute to all the women of the community, the country and the world.
What can I say that hasn't already been said. As a male, white, heterosexual man I was the beneficiary of privileges that other peers and brothers of the species did not enjoy. This is the case for women. Fortunately, in recent years, many rights were recognized and there were many changes in society. Things like "go wash the dishes" or "a woman's place is in the kitchen" are comments that used to be laughed at but fortunately are now socially judged as retrograde and misogynistic.
From my personal perspective, my childhood was spent surrounded and raised entirely by women. I was born to my mommy obviously, but was raised by my grandmother, great grandmother. My mother worked long hours and even late hours so that I wouldn't lack for anything. Not only them, my mom had two female sisters, who didn't have children yet, so I was spoiled by the whole female family without rest.
A few years after my birth I had my first cousin, also female, and following the same line, all my aunts had female daughters. It wasn't until the birth of my brother that there was another male member in my family. But I spent my days not only with my mother and grandmothers (who lived together) but also with my aunts and cousins.
So I want to pay tribute to all the women in the world, but especially to my family who took care of me and raised me and without them I would not be who I am today.
I believe it is our duty as men and as members of society to reflect on these issues. Just because something has been done for thousands of years does not mean it is right. There is a term called deconstruction, I think it is very accurate. Our identity is the product of the information we assimilate during our lives. We naturalize things that should shock us and it is amazing the things we learn (and unlearn). It took us a lifetime to acquire bad habits of behavior, recognizing them is difficult and I think it is a task that may take me a lifetime.
Advances in the recognition of rights for women have come a long way in recent years. But there is still a long way to go. For example, women historically were the nucleus of a family, a man can abandon his child as long as he "pays child support" and often not even that. Women have obligations imposed by society that little by little we are leaving behind. Another normal case is not recognizing housework as a task with rights, women do one of the most sacrificed and full time jobs, when they do not have a separate job to support themselves. Humanity parasitized women's work for generations without recognizing them as an active member of society and without basic rights such as vacations or retirement. Being a "housewife" is objectively a job, this is a given, and as such should receive economic compensation.
A few isolated governments have pioneered and made progress in this regard, but still a vast majority of women around the world do not enjoy basic rights. It is rare that rights are recognized without mobilization and struggle, feminist and other sexual minority movements are very active and organized. I still find some people resisting change, it was always the same, but this tide cannot be stopped. Women are half of the population, it seems implausible that in a modern society we are still discussing things that are ethically repudiatory. From our perspective, progress is slow, but just 70 years ago women could not even vote. Today we already see women in positions of power in first level companies. They are still a minority but this has just begun.
The new generations come with a different chip, the prejudices of the old world will be extinguished, as well as the dinosaurs that are among us and will disappear.

Cosas como “anda a lavar los platos” o “el lugar de la mujer es la cocina” son comentarios que antes causaban risa pero por suerte ahora son juzgados socialmente por retrógrados y misóginos.
Desde mi perspectiva personal, mi infancia la pasé rodeado y criado enteramente por mujeres. Nací de mi mami obviamente, pero fui criado por mi abuela, bisabuela. Mi madre trabajaba muchas horas e incluso hasta tarde para que a mi no me falte nada. No solo ellas, mi mamá tenía dos hermanas mujeres, que no tenían hijos aún, así que fui mimado por todo el núcleo familiar femenino sin descanso.
Unos años después de mi nacimiento tuve mi primera prima, también mujer, y siguiendo la misma línea, todas mis tías tuvieron hijas mujeres. No fue hasta el nacimiento de mi hermano que hubo otro miembro masculino en mi familia. Pero yo pasaba mis días no solo con mi madre y abuelas (que vivíamos juntos) sino que también con mis tías y primas.
Así que quiero hacerle un homenaje a todas las mujeres del mundo, pero especialmente a mi familia que me cuidó y educó y sin ellos no sería quien soy hoy ahora.
Creo que es nuestro deber como hombres y como miembros de la sociedad el reflexionar sobre estas cuestiones. Que algo se haya hecho durante miles de años no quiere decir que sea correcto. Hay un término que se llama deconstrucción, me parece muy preciso. Nuestra identidad es el producto de la información que asimilamos durante nuestra vida. Naturalizamos cosas que debería escandalizarnos y es sorprendente las cosas que uno va aprendiendo (y desaprendiendo). Toda una vida nos tomó adquirir malos hábitos de conducta, reconocerlos es difícil y creo que es una tarea que quizás me tome toda la vida.
Los avances en los reconocimientos de los derechos para las mujeres han avanzado mucho en los últimos años. Pero aún falta mucho por hacer. Por ejemplo, la mujer históricamente fué el núcleo de una familia, un hombre puede abandonar a su hijo mientras “pague la manutención” y muchas veces ni siquiera eso. La mujer tiene obligaciones impuestas por la sociedad que poco a poco vamos dejando atrás. Otro caso normal es no reconocer el trabajo hogareño como una tarea con derechos, la mujer hace uno de los trabajos más sacrificados y a tiempo completo, cuando no tiene un trabajo aparte para sostenerse. La humanidad parasitó el trabajo de la mujer durante generaciones sin reconocerlas como un miembro activo de la sociedad y sin derechos básicos como vacaciones o jubilación. Ser “ama de casa” es objetivamente un trabajo, esto es un dato, y como tal debería recibir una compensación económica.
Algunos gobiernos aislados fueron pioneros e hicieron avances en éste aspecto, pero aún una inmensa mayoría de mujeres en todo el mundo no gozan de derechos básicos. Es raro que se reconozcan derechos sin movilización y lucha, los movimientos feministas y de otras minorías sexuales están muy activos y organizados. Sigo encontrando algunas personas que se resisten a los cambios, siempre fue igual, pero esta marea no puede detenerse. La mujer es la mitad de la población, parece inverosímil que en una sociedad moderna sigamos discutiendo cosas que éticamente son repudiables. Desde nuestra perspectiva los avances son lentos, pero hace escasos 70 años la mujer ni siquiera podía votar. Hoy ya vemos a mujeres en puestos de poder de empresas de primer nivel. Aún son una minoría pero esto recién empieza.
Las nuevas generaciones vienen con un chip diferente, los prejuicios del mundo viejo se van a extinguir, así como los dinosaurios que están entre nosotros y van a desaparecer.
