Favorite TV shows in the 90s

It's day thirteen of the #aprilinleo initiative and today we will be diving into Tv shows of the 80s and 90s.

There were some good series that kept viewers glued to the television set once the shows aired. I clearly recall watching most of these tv series on the national television station known as N.T.A.

Back then tv viewing was limited to a few hours a day, so any opportunity to watch soaps and tv dramas was grabbed like it's hot.

Without much Ado, let me take y'all back in time to the '90s.

    Things fall apart (1987)

Things fall apart was adapted from a book of same title authored by Chinua Achebe. It began airing on TV in the year 1987. Things fall apart was known for its deep cultural inclination even though most of it were barbaric. Only with the advent of Christian missionaries, did the villagers finally see the light and a better way of living. The lead role played by Pete Edochie as Okonkwo, with his fierce and dogmatic acting made things fall apart a success.

    **Checkmate (1991 to 1994)""

Next on my list is checkmate. A TV drama series filled with betrayal, greed and hunger for power. We were introduced to the influential Heathrop family, who constantly battle internal ad external enemies. Checkmate aired on national television from 1991 to 1994. Staring actors like Richard Mofe Damijo, Bob Manuel Udoku and others.

    The new masquerade

The last but definitely not the list is the new masquerade. Two persons that made me love this sitcom drama series were chief Zebrudaya and his polluted grammar and okon. For those who were familiar with the series, you would agree with me that they really did justice in polluting grammar with reckless abandon causing viewers to erupt in laughter.

Other tv shows that also captivated audience include..

I need to know, teenage drama staring Funke Akindele

The Village headmaster staring the late Justice Esiri

    Everyday people staring Desmond Elliot

    Tales by moonlight

Boy oh boy, those were the days of wholesome tv shows. There was no fear of indecency as families would sit together to watch these shows.

Their acting might have been filled with flaws then, when compared to acting quality now but we were unperturbed as we genuinely viewed, criticized and appreciated both actors and tv shows.

Thank you for reading and viewing.
