Heyyyyy! What’s up, fellow Hivers! It’s me again, @annventure, sharing another blog.
Valentine's Day is supposedly a day for couples, but when we get older, it becomes normal. But, I know it is not only for couples but also for friends and family. Sometimes, due to busy schedules, we celebrated the occasion with work. Sad, but that's the reality, especially if you have reached the stage of adulting. Moreover, I started the day on Valentine’s Day with a hectic one, having classes in the morning, and I had to quickly write a script for hosting right after I had lunch. My friend Jacob was my co-host for the program. We had a very pressured day as we have been swamped preparing lesson plans and instructional materials, and we forgot to write or prepare a script for the school’s afternoon activity. That’s the major dilemma I faced.
While we were scriptwriting, the clock seemed to tick so fast that the opening program was getting nearer every time I looked at my phone. It was excruciating for me, especially since it was the first time I had held a microphone and hosted a program since the lockdown. Memories flash back and forth of the younger me, at the same place, holding a microphone and speaking elegantly in front of a crowd. I was kind of nervous about whether I could make it and whether I still had the groove to talk in front of many. Nervousness consumes me.
I had a mental block while finding the right words to start the script outline. I did not know how to begin, and it seemed very difficult to start. Time was running fast, and at the last minute, adrenaline filled my being, and I was able to start an outline—finally! The outline was insufficient, but I pushed through it and let everything go with the flow.
The program started, and the nervousness was still consuming me big time. I needed to drink water every now and then while waiting for the us to kickstart. My bladder was holding it together to keep myself going 😊. A major twist came up while we were bounded with the outline we wrote. The plot twist was that the program flow was not followed, as the school principal needed to exit from the school first, so we needed to insert him at the beginning. Thus, the outline we wrote was not followed, and we needed to be quick to save the flow or else a major glitch would be evident throughout the program. Luckily, we were able to make it and make everything as smooth as possible. Sweat after sweat. Hearts pounding. Anxiety rose up. However, above all else, the program successfully ended.
Thanks to my co-host, who is also my friend, for making everything flow smoothly. It is such a great memory for both of us coming back to host a program—to stand in front of the crowd just like we used to enjoy it back when we were teenagers.
P. S. To more hosting gigs 🤞
