Yesterday morning was taken entirely by the coop door. I was standing there at 8am to watch it open which it ended up doing but not exactly on time. There was a slight hiccup in the engagement but the motor pulled the door open just fine.
I had the setup running off an old Arduino Uno R3 that is relatively dumb.
With the new R4 WiFi board I was able to get the code working so that the R4 serves a web page with the stats of the door. In doing the change of boards I ended up having to pull the setup from the coop and bring it in the house to work on. The servo managed to get all jacked in positioning but after some fiddling I managed to get it back to normal.
I found myself running back and forth to the house as I played with the code and made changes. This new R4 board is pretty slick and is far more capable than the R3.
So in my testing I managed to break the wire I was using to open the door so I had to get another length which ended up being much stronger than the first. Plus I tried to bring my computer out to upload the code but my battery tanked to fast. I got one upload in and tried a second when my computer shut off. The core works, I was just making changes to the web page which I will upload the new program today.
SUPER basic but it's all I need really, just the stats please. I'm trying to figure out how to get it displayed on the e-ink hat I have for the Pi zero. Seems like it should be pretty straight forward.
The greenhouse needed watering and the greens are doing great. I AM going to have to cut them short though as I need to get the soil tilled and the greenhouse planted for summer soon.
The potato garden now has the irrigation lines all laid out and staked. Next is to cobble together plastic to cover it and I will be able to get the potatoes planted.
The boys had their pediatrician appointment in the afternoon. We are reestablishing with our original pediatrician who is now in Deer Park and closer than before. Quite nice to be back with him and the boys are both in great health and their metrics are all in a solid range.
When we got home @stryeyz's new rowing machine was waiting at the gate. I soon had it hauled into the studio and after about half an hour had it all put together. It is super slick and EXTRA quiet. Folds up to reduce the floor space taken and has a boat load of resistance levels. I have to make a path to the upper studio so I can get the truck up there to haul the treadmill down which will go in with the rower.
While I made dinner I threw darts and this grouping tickled me. First dart was the bottom and then I stacked them up in a straight line. It felt really good each throw as each dart dropped in atop the others.
The Kraken played and I ended upturning off the embarrassment of a game. They got demolished and are down to the point of throwing the young guys on for experience. I just see the "dealer out" hand flipping.
Got out to soak for under an hour. Probably should have sat longer as my left shoulder muscles are super sore. Might be from the tilling or hauling the rower in...
Today we have a bit of rain floating through now, I'll be out to watch the door open again and make sure it is working right, will upload the current program to the board for a better stats page, Man Utd play today at the same time as the PDC is on, the mud is dry and I will sand it smooth and clean up the dust, if it doesn't rain too much I'll try to till more, work on the top and potato gardens, then figure out something for dinner this evening.
