Good show about Edo period crime fighter squad and its leader Onihei a.k.a. the "Oni" (demon) who "never tolerates evil". Each episode is a story about someone -- a thief, a murderer, a witness, an orphan, a samurai, a ronin, a wife, a merchant, a victim, a commander, etc.
It is especially nice that the main character is not a typical enforcer but a wise person who exercise his moral judgement regardless of law, especially under pressure of difficult or competing circumstances. Humane portrayal of most characters of the story, who usually have life circumstances that pushed them to do crime.
