There's a chance for humans and robots to coexist.

Some days ago, I wrote a post about what I do for a living aside from blogging on Hive, which is being a real estate consultant. I discussed how we network on this job and work across different states in my country, helping clients actualize their dream of becoming land or house owners, as well as those that rent or lease apartments. Today, the hive learners prompt asked us to discuss how we can cope if robots and AI take away our jobs from us.

As technology keeps advancing, robots and AI are becoming more rampant in our society today and perform a diverse of tasks. As much as human beings have embraced this particular advancement, the fear of many has been primarily job displacement.

It's interesting to know that robots can do lots of jobs in our world today, even the least expected jobs, and I see it as a tremendous growth that makes life easier for humans. Recently, I read that medical robots assist surgeons in complex procedures when taking care of patients. Can you imagine that? In our homes, they can serve as a cleaner and a chef. In schools and hospitals, they have taken their positions. Just yesterday day, from one of the entries, I read that even in agriculture, robots do harvesting, like, what can these machines not do? Is it my real estate agent job? It can even do it better and better. You see, in the next decade, these machines may start doing the unthinkable, but do not fret, there's a chance for humans and robots to coexist. All we need to do is think about upskilling and become more open-minded because robots are here to stay;, they might even create more opportunities for us humans than take them away. These are machines and are limited to what they can do in certain situations, at least because they have no emotional feelings. Human creativity can go hand in hand with where robots are lagging for a better result.

Let's look into my own job and the role of both humans and robots in real estate.

Interestingly, many real estate companies have been working with these robots since two years ago, but only in some developed countries, Nigeria excluded. Like I said before, AI can do the job of an agent even better, but still, there are areas where human expertise will be needed. For instance, in terms of preferences, budgeting, and choosing desired locations, AI and robots can perfectly analyze these factors for clients prior to buying real estate properties. Even before the physical inspection that we do with clients, these machines can take clients on a virtual tour of the sites. What about the manual paper work transactions that are being drafted by the real estate companies for their clients? AI will do this even without errors and faster. There's also what we call market trends in real estate, which help clients make their decisions. There's no doubt that AI can take on this role for the better. However, in terms of negotiations and complex issues usually encountered in real estate, human services does this perfectly. AI also can't build trust with clients. Most clients invest based on trust and relationships and request guidance and support throughout the process, which AI can't replace.

In summary, as much as robots and AI can provide more efficient services in various aspects of real estate, I think coexisting with traditional agents will provide support in different ways. However, if these machines eventually take over my job completely and my skill becomes obsolete, I will upskill more and discover other ways of earning, but overall, I think having human-AI collaboration will form a powerful partnership for a better result in various aspects of jobs in our society today.

What do you think about this? Kindly share your opinion in the comment section🤗.
