Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from Cape Town in South Africa!
Welcome to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 141 overall! My current pattern for how I will be contributing to TTT is to take the Hive Open Mic challenge Theme of the Week and give suggestions on how I would tackle it!
For those of you who are not familiar, the Hive Open Mic is a weekly challenge on the Hive Open Mic community for anybody who loves to sing. You don’t even need to play an instrument, a backing track or a cappella is also fine as far as I can tell!
Different artists are given the chance to choose a “Theme of the Week” that the posts should be based on. Often it can be difficult for people to think about easy songs that might fit that theme… so let me see if I can be of any assistance to the people who still might not know what to try by the time Tuesday comes around!
All right! Let’s get cracking!
Here is the post inviting everyone to participate in this week’s Hive Open Mic (Week 200):
Firstly, a huge congratulations to the Hive Open Mic for reaching its 200th week! As you can see, they are doing something special this week. It was the turn of @jesuslnrs, one of the moderators, to pick a theme, and this week the theme is “Virtual Serenade”.
What is different this week, is that they want you to dedicate your “virtual serenade” to a Hive Account that is not already an active participant of Hive Open Mic, so that we can bring more friends to visit, support and engage with a community that is already full of talented Hivers from all over the world.
They are also offering three incredibly generous prizes (100HIVE, 60HIVE, 40HIVE) to the top 3 participants this week. SO! If you have been toying with the idea of getting into Hive Open Mic (ahem @clairemobey), then this might be the perfect week to do it!
So, what would I do?…
SONG NUMBER 1
“For Emily Whenever I may Find Her” – Simon & Garfunkel
The most obvious virtual serenade is a romantic one. If your significant other is on HIVE, but is not actively involved in Hive Open Mic, perhaps sing them a beautiful love song like this one?
SONG NUMBER 2
“Creep” – Radiohead
Perhaps you know somebody on HIVE who can sing really well, but is not participating on HIVE OPEN MIC. For me that would be @clairemobey, who is somebody I actually perform with in a duo called “MobeyDick”. We both write original songs that we play at our gigs, but here is a cover we like to sing together, with Claire tackling some of the most impressive, climatic parts:
SONG NUMBER 3
“Paradise Road” – Joy
This is probably the one I am choosing. Is there a song that is important in describing your country’s history? Perhaps you can dedicate it to some of the older people on HIVE who are from your country.
In my case, I come from South Africa. This beautiful song, with its rousing chorus of “There are better days before us, and a burning bridge behind us…” became one of the songs that symbolized the hope for the country in the 1980s, and the end of the dark days of Apartheid and its enforced policies of racial segregation.
So, I would dedicate this song to some of the elder South Africans on Hive, and maybe even ask if they remember the song and the 1980s, when I was only a child…
So that's week 141 done and dusted! I hope that gave some people some ideas on how to tackle the Hive Open Mic Challenge this week? Perhaps I’ve even inspired one or two new people to give it a try? Please let me know!

Hola a todos en HIVE, y especialmente a la comunidad musical. ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y les escribo desde Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica!
Bienvenidos a "Three Tune Tuesday", una iniciativa iniciada por @ablaze. ¡Es la semana 141 en total! Mi patrón actual sobre cómo contribuiré a TTT es tomar el tema de la semana del desafío Hive Open Mic y dar sugerencias sobre cómo lo abordaría.
Para aquellos de ustedes que no están familiarizados, Hive Open Mic es un desafío semanal en la comunidad de Hive Open Mic para cualquiera a quien le guste cantar. ¡Ni siquiera necesitas tocar un instrumento, una pista de acompañamiento o a capella también está bien, hasta donde yo sé!
Diferentes artistas tienen la oportunidad de elegir un “Tema de la semana” en el que se basarán las publicaciones. A menudo puede resultar difícil para las personas pensar en canciones sencillas que puedan encajar con ese tema... ¡así que déjenme ver si puedo ser de alguna ayuda para las personas que quizás todavía no sepan qué probar cuando llegue el martes!

Ambos escribimos canciones originales que tocamos en nuestros conciertos, pero aquí hay una versión que nos gusta cantar juntas, con Claire abordando algunas de las partes climáticas más impresionantes:

Probablemente este sea el que estoy eligiendo. ¿Hay alguna canción que sea importante para describir la historia de tu país? Quizás puedas dedicárselo a algunas de las personas mayores de HIVE que sean de tu país.
En mi caso vengo de Sudáfrica. Esta hermosa canción, con su conmovedor coro de “Hay días mejores delante de nosotros, y un puente en llamas detrás de nosotros…” se convirtió en una de las canciones que simbolizaron la esperanza para el país en la década de 1980 y el fin de los días oscuros del Apartheid. y sus políticas impuestas de segregación racial.
Entonces, dedicaría esta canción a algunos de los sudafricanos mayores en Hive, y tal vez incluso les preguntaría si recuerdan la canción y la década de 1980, cuando yo era sólo un niño...
¡Así que ya está la semana 141 terminada y desempolvada! Espero que esto haya dado a algunas personas algunas ideas sobre cómo abordar el desafío Hive Open Mic esta semana. ¿Quizás incluso he inspirado a una o dos personas nuevas a intentarlo? ¡Por favor hágamelo saber!
