This time I want to share with you some images I want to divide into two publications as I think they are worthwhile. These are shots of several bridges built in the first quarter of the last century and still in service.
On a road of approximately 70km, which connects the city of Pinar del Rio with the municipality of Guane, there are 9 steel and wood bridges, very old and still resisting the passage of time at all costs. Several of them are in a mountainous area. It is incredible, in spite of the time that has passed and the lack of maintenance and restoration from the structure, that most of them are still active and providing passage for road transportation. They are of very good and solid construction, of reinforced steel, with an infinity of rivets and screws, and wood in the transit part.
They all have the characteristic of being narrow, single track. It seems that at that time for the most intricate areas they were built this way, and also because of the low level of automobile transportation. The craan, craan, craan..., sound of the planks passing over them is unmistakable, and brings back fond memories. En esta ocasión comparto con ustedes algunas imágenes quiero dividir en dos publicaciones ya que creo merecen la pena. Se trata de tomas de varios puentes construidos en el primer cuarto del siglo pasado y que aún están dando servicio. En una carretera de aproximadamente 70km, que comunica a la ciudad de Pinar del Río con el municipio Guane, se encuentran 9 puentes de acero y madera, muy antiguos y que aún siguen resistiendo el paso del tiempo a toda costa. Varios de ellos están en una zona montañosa. Es increíble, a pesar del tiempo que ha transcurrido y la falta de mantenimiento y restauración desde estructura, que aún la mayor parte de ellos están activos y brindando paso al transporte por carretera. Son de muy buena y sólida construcción, de acero reforzado, con infinidad de remaches y tornillos, y madera en la parte del tránsito. Todos tienen la característica de ser estrechos, de una sola vía. Parece que en esa época para las zonas más intrincadas se construían así, y además por el bajo nivel de transportación automotriz. El craan, craan, craan..., sonido de los tablones al pasar por encima de ellos es inconfundible, y me trae gratos recuerdos.
