Remind Myself

I have quite a history on this platform having been around for a couple of years. I was moved reading a poem I wrote four years ago that was reblogged by my old friend, abbak7. The actual write-up was simple and straight from the heart. I don't do much poetry these days for whatever reason but I certainly remember the reason I explored them on Hive in the first place - a short outlet to let out my raw emotions.

Those times seem quite different from now. As a matter of fact, I've delved into quite a few areas of interest on this platform through the years. Each season brings with it a different set of emotions and expectations. My outlook on life is a lot different from how it was four years ago. Of course I am much older now, in my Thirties. Yet I do remember quite fondly these emotions anytime I come across reminders such as the poem I wrote.

Making comparisons between the past and present isn't advised, but it is necessary as far as am concerned. This is especially when the past appears brighter than the present. Sometimes we can look back on how to draw inspiration for the present. Then again, inspiration is only what you make of it. If I can't be inspired, I can at least bask in the pleasant memories brought by the past.

I wonder how four years from now will be with life generally. Am all the more convinced that Hive will still be around, but I certainly wonder if I'll look back at a day like today longing for the emotions of the past, or grateful for the turnaround changes a potential present may bring.
