I honestly don’t see what people enjoy in gambling. To me, it’s a waste of time and money. I mean I've seen so many people bet their last penny, hoping that they will hit the jackpot. They have this belief that they will double or even triple what they have. However, most of them end up losing it all, so they are left with only regret and frustration. When I see this happen, I can't help but feel sad for them because it’s painful to watch someone take such a risk only to walk away with nothing.
In my opinion, gambling is very dangerous. It can catch people under the false impression that one day they will actually win something. I know people who gamble regularly. Some of them have gotten lucky a few times, but in the long run, they lose more than they win. It seems like the more they lose, the more they want to keep trying. It's like this dream they are constantly in pursuit of jumps ahead of them.
One of my best friends had the worst experience with gambling. He would only bet on like small things, and he thought it was no big deal. However, as time progressed he started to gamble a lot more. He told me he was doing it to earn extra money because things were tight for him financially. I understood his situation, but I didn’t agree with his decision. I have talked to him about it, letting him know the risks. Unfortunately, he didn’t listen. So he kept on gambling and soon he ran out of all his savings. He even borrowed money from friends just to gamble, and he lost that as well, so he ends up with nothing. It is sad to see him in such a bad place.
I don’t gamble, and I never wish to. The idea of risking my hard-earned money on something so uncertain doesn’t make any sense to me. I think there are other ways to earn money and waste time. Gambling feels like throwing money into a bottomless pit. You just keep on hoping that something is going to come back up, but it never does. The emotional toll it takes on people is also something that bothers me. I’ve seen people become so anxious and desperate after losing. They end up doubting themselves and wiith this feeling hopeless and all this hits into their mental state.
It’s important to understand that gambling is not a quick fix for financial problems. Rather than losing your money you are more likely to lose double that amount. It's a dangerous sport though, and it's not meant for everyone to play under the pressure. People become addicted and that addiction can cost them their life. They not only lose money, but friends, jobs, and even there own state of mind.
I don’t see any enjoyment in gambling. The risks far outweigh the rewards. Rather keep my money safe and find alternative ways to enhance my life. Gambling is definitely not for me, and hopefully more and more people will realize its evils before they become ensnared by it.
