Hey friends, we're closer to WrestleMania XL in April.
I've been closely tracking the journey of Gunther as the titleholder of Intercontinental Champion in WWE, and I must tell you that he has actually ruled the mid-card like no other before him.
His reign has been a true epic and there is no doubt that he is one of the greatest ever Intercontinental Champions in WWE history beyond any dispute.
What makes Gunther different from others is not only his ring skills but also his outstanding character work.
The way he carries himself, with such intensity during each match and being surrounded by an aura of dominance has all helped to make him an unstoppable force on WWE landscape.
Not many champions are as self-assured both inside and outside the squared circle like he does.
One of the most remarkable things about Gunther’s rule has been his ability to defeat some of the biggest names in WWE.
This evidences that he has what it takes to take on greats like Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston. And each win he had was further proof that he deserved to be called the Intercontinental Champion and remain in WWE history forever.
Now, as he prepares for his title defense against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL, everything is at stake for Gunther. Some may argue that Sami stands a chance of dethroning the champion but I personally don’t think so.
While Sami is also a good fighter, there has not been much story built between him and Gunther making his win look unreal. The reaction to Sami defeating Chad Gable for this opportunity only supports this claim.
Thus, I am absolutely certain that Gunther will win his match in WrestleMania XL, hold onto his Intercontinental Championship, and continue to dominate.
But what comes after this is even more interesting. Who will it be that eventually conquers Gunther and snatches the title from him?
There are a few names that come to mind, however, two of them are: Chad Gable and Ilja Dragunov.
These superstars have the potential of becoming great as well as having skills and charisma to raise the bar for Intercontinental Championship.
It would be really exciting to see any of these two contesting against Gunther for the title in a Bash In Berlin event and I just can’t stop thinking if one of them might be responsible for putting an end on Gunther’s run.
As a final point, Günther’s tenure as intercontinental champion has been quite impressive.
He is one of the best champions due to his wrestling dominance, defeat of WWE’s top wrestlers and respected character in wrestling.
I can guarantee that the fight between him and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL would be highly combative but he will triumph at the end.
As for what lies ahead, only time will tell who shall knock the ring general out from the top spot and claim the Intercontinental Championship from him.
