Nurturing A Heartfelt Connection With Animals.

It's awesome how the relationship between humans and animals has grown over the years, and I admire people who treat animals with love, care, and respect. I surely sound weird when I tell people that animals should be treated with love, care, and respect when I am not even a vegetarian.

People say to my face that my affection for animals is just for the purpose of eating them, but that's not true because my affection for them is beyond the purpose of eating them, even though I eat them too.

Whether I am a vegetarian or not, we all have feelings, and showing compassion to animals is just inevitable for some of us. I once told a man who ignored a dog that fell into a pit that humanity begins with how we treat animals, and he looked at me as if I were crazy.

I made it clear to him that if we can't help animals as little as they are, how do we help a fellow human that might cause you a lot of stress. Many homes today now have pets due to the love humans have showered on animals, and like I mentioned earlier, it's really beautiful to see the bond get stronger.

As a matter of fact, animals have shown so much loyalty to humans, and there are people who would choose to pour their hearts to their pets despite knowing that all they will get is the pet licking their faces, but that simple reaction means a lot to them.

Growing up, I had a puppy named Pepsi. It was a lovely, playful, and beautiful dog. Aside from my family, Pepsi was my best friend, and it got to the point that everyone knew that once they saw Pepsi, I was definitely in that vicinity. My mom was against having a dog because we didn't have the power to raise one, but I insisted and would split my food just to make sure Pepsi was okay. We bonded really well, and it was unfortunate that Pepsi left the world too soon.

We were playing one afternoon when a concrete ring lost friction and crushed my poor puppy where it was playing, it was a horrible sight for me.

It's been over two decades now, and I haven't been able to do away with the feeling of losing another animal after bonding so well with it. This fear has prevented me from getting another pet, and when I thought that I had gotten over it, another tragedy struck with an uncommon pet in my part of the world.

I reared a small number of chickens, and one of them decided to love me more than the others; it would always sit next to me, and I reciprocated the love. The chicken became my favorite, and one evening, it was nowhere to be found. I felt really unhappy, and the experience brought back the memory of Pepsi.

If I had my way, I would make sure the animals we keep as pets live longer than usual so that we can spend more time with them instead of them disappearing at a time when we didn't expect it.

Despite the love humans are showing towards animals at this age, it's disheartening to see some animal species that are endangered and close to extinction, plus I don't buy the idea of animals being locked up just for humans to watch them. The wild animals are meant to be in the wild, and the best thing they could have done was make a boundary in the wild that the animals wouldn't cross.

Overall, seeing the bond between humans and animals is something that makes me happy. My wife used to be scared of animals, but somehow I have influenced her with the way I express my love for animals.

Recently, she asked if we could get a cat, and I was shocked. I don't know how long it will take for me to own a pet again, but it will definitely make me happy.
