Days of captivity have sapped his strength, but still he presses on, terrified of what awaits him if he is caught.
Suddenly, blinding lights appear in front of him.
He clamps his hands over his eyes too late.
Metal and flesh clash with a sickening crunch.
The men pursuing him stumble at the scene.
-Looks like his luck has run out, -cracks one of them, stamping the man's mangled body with his boot.
At last they have freed their captive, though not in the way anyone would have planned or wished.
