Somewhere in those infinite Numantine plains that witnessed, relieved, the death of that scourge of God, who, for the medieval Christian kingdoms, was the great leader and strategist, who History knew with the Latinized name of Almanzor, is located one of those innumerable little towns, in which time, far from tormenting with a passage that does not necessarily always mean progress, seems to wash its hands, like Pontius Pilate, leaving it as it apparently was during that fascinating period known as the Middle Ages.
In its center, as if it were a metaphorical and comparative throne of the Minotaur, an old Romanesque church is the focus of attention of travelers, curious and unexpected visitors who one day, pushed by the uncertain winds of destiny, end up at the place. Dedicated to that heavenly paladin, who, in addition to being a warrior, sometimes also becomes a judge, Saint Michael, boasts, to the pride of its neighbors, the category of being considered one of the most curious and relevant Romanesque architectures in this part. that one day they would be the impregnable borders of the Duero.
En algún lugar de aquellos infinitos llanos numantinos que asistieron, aliviados, al deceso de aquel azote de Dios, que, para los reinos cristianos medievales, supuso el gran caudillo y estratega, que la Historia conoció con el nombre latinizado de Almanzor, se localiza uno de esos innumerables pueblecitos, en los que el tiempo, lejos de martirizar con un transcurrir que no siempre significa progreso, necesariamente, parece lavarse las manos, como Poncio Pilatos, dejándole tal y como aparentemente fue durante ese fascinante periodo conocido como la Edad Media.
En su centro, como si de un metafórico y comparativo trono del Minotauro se tratara, una vieja iglesia románica es el foco de atención de viajeros, curiosos e inesperados visitantes que un día, empujados por los inciertos vientos del destino, recalan en el lugar. Dedicada a ese paladín celestial, que, además de guerrero, en ocasiones se convierte también en juez, San Miguel, ostenta, frente al orgullo de sus vecinos, la categoría de estar considerada como una de las arquitecturas románicas más curiosas y relevantes a esta parte de que un día fueran las inexpugnables fronteras del Duero.
