Hello there! How are you doing today? I'm happy to be here again. After joining this wonderful community, i have learnt alot of recipes and i loved them. I also want to appreciate everyone who took out time to view my first post here and i loved all the comments.
So today, I'm making bean cake, also known as 'Akara' here in Nigeria.Akara is a common food in West Africa. Bean cake is rich in protein and also fiber, vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients;
500g of beans
1 onion
7 habanero pepper
20cl of soy oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 cubes of seasoning.
These measurements are for four servings
Preparation;
-Pour some water into the bowl of dry beans, and wash gently with your hands by squeezing the beans or rubbing both hands against the wet beans continuously, until the skin is off the beans
-After washing the beans, you pour it into a blender, add some water, add the pepper and onions and blend till its smooth. Try not to blend with too much water so you can have a desired paste to fry.
- Slice some onions into the paste. You can actually add whatever you'd like to fry with it, but i added onions to give it some taste.
-After mixing the blended beans together with the onion, pour your oil on a fry pan and put on a low heat cooker.
-Allow the oil to get hot, then carefully scoop the bean paste into the oil one after the other.
- it takes about 3-4 minutes on low heat for the bean cake to be well fried and ready for consumption.
Bean cake( akara) can be taken as snacks or as a meal with oat, pap,or cassava flakes(garri). Mine was served with corn pap.
I hope you all like my recipe. Thanks for going through my blog. Do have a lovely one 💕.
