Hello everyone, today I would like to introduce another interesting tourist attraction in Barcelona. This place is called Arc de Triomf, a monument in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was built by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas. It is an archway to the Barcelona World Fair, a trade fair held in Parc de la Ciutadella.
This archway is made of red brick in the Neo-Mudeja style. The front wall is a stone sculpture called Barcelona rep les nacions, which means welcoming the nations. On the opposite wall is the stone carving Recompens, one of the first works by the architect Josep Llimona, which was presented as a prize to the participants of the World Fair. The front of the arch depicts agriculture, industry and trade by Antoni Vilanon and science and art by Torquat Tasso.
The two main pillars of the arch are bats carved from stone, symbolizing King Jaume, the king who ruled Barcelona during its heyday. The base of the arch is a large carved stone arch in the form of a laurel wreath supporting the coat of arms of the 49 provinces that formed the Kingdom of Spain in 1888. The stone base in the center of the arch beautifully displays the coat of arms of the city of Barcelona above the shield, which is larger.
- We visited this place on the first day of my trip to Spain. The weather was quite cloudy that day. We arrived and wanted to check in to the hotel. We walked on and came across the Arc de Triomf which stood out from afar. At that time, there were people taking pictures and it was beautiful when it was there. We walked closer to see its beauty clearly and took pictures with the arch.
- While walking through the arch, walking straight, there were tourists coming out to this place to see continuously. We also took pictures around Arc de Triomf from various angles. When we reached the end of the way we walked, we saw a flock of pigeons and parrots. There was a group of people standing with them.
- We were interested because the parrots were very cute. Looking around, we saw a man feeding the parrots. He put sunflower seeds on his palm and the parrots flew to his arm and ate the seeds. There were tourists next to him who did the same. I also wanted to take pictures with the parrots, so I walked over there.
- Suddenly, the man handed us sunflower seeds. The parrots flew to my arm and landed on my arm very cutely. I was very happy and contented. Excited by these birds, they ate the sunflower seeds very deliciously and I got to touch them up close and asked the man for the price, he said 2 euros, we were happy to pay.
- When the sunflower seeds ran out, the birds flew away from us and landed on the man's arm because he had sunflower seeds but still wanted to play with them. Suddenly, he offered us more sunflower seeds, I refused and said we had no money to pay, but he was kind enough to say it was okay, he gave them to us for free. We were very happy.
And those moments are another moment that are a memory. I am very happy because besides seeing the beautiful sculpture of the Arc de Triomf, which is a tourist attraction in Barcelona, Spain, I also got to play with those cute parrots.
