Good day, Hivers!
I want to share my laboratory experiment experience from last semester.
Finding Out About Inorganic Chemistry
When I found out we had Inorganic Chemistry, the first thing that came to my mind was, "Oh, there’s going to be math involved," like solving problems and, of course, conducting experiments.
On the first day of class, our instructor assigned us to introduce ourselves and share our expectations about the class. I told the class that I didn’t have much idea about Inorganic Chemistry since my strand back in senior high school was the General Academic Strand (GAS). We didn’t focus much on science. Maybe we had a subject where it was mentioned, but I honestly forgot about it.
The Moving Exam
On our second meeting for this subject, we had a moving exam. The setup was that the laboratory apparatus was already provided on the table, and we had to identify the objects and give a brief explanation of their uses.
Since I was curious and eager to learn, I studied and even made small charts to help me familiarize myself with the laboratory apparatus.
Starting the Experiment
By the fourth meeting, we finally started doing experiments. Ma’am grouped us, and I was part of Group 4, which had nine members. I was the first one to arrive in our group, so I gathered all the materials we needed. I also measured and transferred 100 ml of hydrogen peroxide.
I felt nervous because our instructor was nearby, but I made sure to be careful while transferring it to avoid wasting any.
Minutes later, one of my groupmates arrived. He just watched and helped me confirm if I transferred exactly 100 ml. After pouring, we went to our designated table, and more group members started arriving.
Guided Process and Fun Moments
Our instructor provided us with papers that outlined the step-by-step process of the experiment. If we had any questions, Ma’am was very approachable and ready to answer.
By the way, here are the materials we used for the experiment.
Although my shoulders were already aching, I still pushed through. But I couldn’t deny that my groupmate was feeling the strain too—just look at his face! You could really tell that he was tired.
But when he noticed someone taking a picture, he immediately smiled.
When I browsed through my gallery, I couldn’t help but smile at the photos.
This experiment was truly a memorable experience for me. I really enjoyed it and learned so much while doing it!
And that's all, my dear hivers. Thank you for reading!
