To the west of Havana, a city that holds so many stories and art within its streets, in the small town of Jaimanitas, we can find a beautiful community project designed by the Cuban artist José Rodríguez Fuster, who with his wonderful talent shows us the closest thing to Gaudí's modernism that we have on our island.

This project dates back to the late 1980s, and over the years, the streets and walls of the houses enclose the meaning of our history among mosaics, currently known by the name Fusterlandia in reference to the author's surname. It is here where through colors, the painter José Rodríguez Fuster recreates Caribbean-toned icons of our history, heroes of our homeland, and friends of our nation. Fuster evokes echoes of Gaudí or Picasso, transmitting a fascinating beauty wrapped in every piece of tile stuck to our walls.
Tribute to Gaudí
The author of this beautiful community arrived in Jaimanitas in the year 1946, starting by living in a small wooden house. The painter brought with him memories of his native Caibarién, located on the north coast of Cuba, and also from his travels through Europe. His many studies led the author to create Jaimanitas with mosaics, sculptures, and quotes from Alejo Carpentier. Fuster not only used his own house as a canvas but also added to his artistic project over 80 houses and other common areas for public use. The entire project was funded thanks to the sale of his paintings, sculptures, and community support.

Inside his house, we find murals depicting mermaids, Santería figures, the Cuban Revolution, roosters, crocodiles, hearts, fish, flags, and peasants. In Fusterlandia, shades of green, red, blue, and white are mostly highlighted.

Walking among so many colors, beauty, and art that radiate Cubanness makes you feel like part of our history, our customs; in short, it makes you feel Cuban. This place is open every day of the week from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Al oeste de la Habana ciudad que guarda entre sus calles tantas historias y arte podemos encontrar en el pequeño pueblo de Jaimanitas un hermoso proyecto comunitario diseñado por el artista cubano José Rodríguez Fuster quien con sus maravilloso talento nos muestra lo más parecido al modernismo de Gaudí que tenemos en nuestra isla.
Este proyecto data de finales de los años 80, con el paso de los años las calles y muros de las casas encierran entre mosaicos el significado de nuestra historia, conocido actualmente por el nombre de Fusterlandia en alusión al apellido del autor. Es aquí donde a través de colores el pintor José Rodríguez Fuster recrea con tonalidades caribeñas iconos de nuestra historia heroes de nuestra patria y amigos de nuestra nación. Fuster evoca ecos de Gaudí o Picasso lo que transmite una belleza fascinante envuelta en cada pedazo de loza pegado a nuestras paredes.
El autor de esta hermosa comunidad en el año 1946 llegó a Jaimanitas, comenzó viviendo en una pequeña casa de madera. El pintor traía consigo las memorias de su natal Caibarién, ubicado en la costa norte de Cuba y también de sus viajes por Europa. Tantos estudios llevaron al autor a crear Jaimanitas con mosaicos, esculturas y citas de Alejo Carpentier. Fuster no solo utilizó su propia casa como lienzo si no que también sumó a su proyecto artístico más de 80 casas y otras áreas comunes de uso público. Toda su obra fue financiada gracias a la venta de sus cuadros, esculturas y ayuda de la propia comunidad.
En el interior de su casa encontramos murales sobre sirenas, santeros, la Revolución Cubana, gallos, cocodrilos, corazones, peces, banderas y campesinos. En Fusterlandia resaltan mayormente las tonalidades de verdes, rojo, azul y blanco.
Este maravillos rincón del arte es imposible de ignorar por quienes lo visitan, caminar entre tantos colores beleza y arte que irradian cubanía te hacen sentir parte de nuestra historia, de nuestras costumbres, en pocas palabras te hace sentir cubano. Este lugar se encuentra abierto todos los días de la semana de 9:30h a 16h.
