Feliz día, amigos lectores. Hoy estoy de vuelta para comentarles aspectos de mi consulta psicopedagógica. Son cosas que me han permitido construir un concepto que me identifica. Pienso que cuando se trabaja con la atención de niños y en relación directa con las personas, debes estar consciente que cuidar los elementos que conforman tu quehacer laboral tiene importancia, ya que todos impactan en el pronóstico favorable del trabajo que se realiza.

Comencé con muy pocos materiales y he ido creciendo. Aunque lo más importante no son los recursos físicos; sino las personas. En este sentido también puedo decir que conservo buenas relaciones con los padres y representantes; inclusive, con los que he tenido algunos desacuerdos.

Entrando a mi consulta.

Soy Sandra Cabrera, psicopedagoga, con estudios de postgrado en Educación Especial Integral, Planificación Educativa y Literatura Infantil. Tengo 37 años con mi consulta privada en la ciudad de Cumaná, estado Sucre, Venezuela. He aprendido de todas las experiencias exitosas y no tan exitosas a lo largo de los años y quizás alguna de estas reflexiones te puedan interesar.

Espacio donde trabajo con sonido, internet y pantallas. Aquí aplico programas fundamentalmente para adquirir y mejorar el proceso de lectura; también para estimulación fonética y fonológica.

Los materiales.

El material lúdico-educativo que se utiliza en la práctica psicopedagógica es tan importante como conocer las teorías. En una adecuada sesión de psicopedagogía se debe manejar teoría y práctica en forma coherente. Cuando compras o construyes un material debes tener claro cómo y para qué lo vas a utilizar, es decir, qué metas queremos lograr mediando a través de esos materiales.

Cada cosa en su lugar. Así no tienes que estar buscando.

Siempre los materiales deben estar organizados y disponibles.

La planificación.

La planificación es la guía básica para orientar en forma coherente la acción psicopedagógica. Cuando el niño ingresa a la consulta y luego de realizar la evaluación, planifico los primeros quince días de trabajo, selecciono las posibles actividades y estrategias más adecuadas…y esto me lleva naturalmente a definir mejor el tipo de materiales y a seleccionar las estrategias con las que voy a mediar.

Es importante contar con material variado, atractivo y de fácil manipulación para apoyar las actividades planificadas.

Igualmente, son importantes los materiales de evaluación.

Coherencia entre los elementos de la planificación.

Los elementos de una adecuada planificación deben tener un hilo conductor que haga coherente todo el proceso de atención educativa. Mientras más claridad haya en esta sinergia, mayores logros se pueden obtener. Sin embargo, por lo general se acentúan las estrategias en forma aislada perdiendo de vista el sentido del objetivo y éste con el modelo teórico con el que estás trabajando.

La evaluación ser coherente con enfoques teóricos y a partir de ahí coherente con las líneas de intervención.

La distribución del tiempo.

Generalmente una sesión estándar de psicopedagogía tiene una duración de 45 minutos; sin embargo, yo trabajo 1 hora, porque en ese tiempo además de ejecutar las actividades planificadas, debo tomar los registros finales e intercambiar con el padre lo que considere necesario. Si no se organiza el trabajo alrededor del tiempo, denota una falta profesionalismo y una falta de aprendizaje desde la experiencia.

La organización del tiempo es fundamental. Debe estar estructurado según tus horas diarias de permanencia, la cantidad de niños y otras actividades que se deben realizar. El tiempo es un recurso de cuidado. Mi reloj, nunca falta.

El espacio físico.

Debe estar organizado y ordenado de acuerdo a las actividades que se realizan. Trabajar con niños pequeños, con algún compromiso en el desarrollo, exige que estructuremos el espacio de trabajo, que nos ayude a propiciar la anticipación de acciones y el sentido de lo que se realiza. Si no hay orden, se pierden las secuencias y la acción psicopedagógica queda a la deriva. Si realmente queremos ayudar al niño, debemos ser muy organizados. Así mismo, la iluminación, la ventilación y la limpieza son indispensables. Contar con un espacio agradable es fundamental.

Zona para la espera.

En una consulta psicopedagógica, los padres a veces deben esperar al niño, por diferentes motivos, así que es preciso que se cuente con un espacio donde ellos puedan pasar ese tiempo en forma agradable. Es tan importante como el espacio de la atención del niño, el espacio para los padres y familiares. En mi consulta tengo el mobiliario básico, sillas cómodas, conexión a internet, televisión satelital, ambiente musical, baños limpios; disponible agua, infusiones, café o té. Además de los padres y de los niños, también debo considerar la permanencia de aquellas personas que por diversos intereses asisten a solicitar información y/u orientación.

Aquí los padres pueden esperar a que termine la terapia psicopedagógica…mientras disfrutan de un café en un ambiente musical agradable o leen un cuento.

La fachada.

Tan importante es el interior de la consulta como el exterior. Un frente limpio preferiblemente con plantas bien cuidadas que inviten a observar la naturaleza y a recordar las bondades que nos ofrece. Igualmente, es adecuado que la consulta sea de fácil acceso y que no represente peligro para la entrada y salida de los niños. Cuando tenemos cerca avenidas, autopistas, callejones, botes de basura o cualquier elemento que sea percibido como una amenaza, no es favorable.

Tu apariencia.

Debes cuidar que la imagen con la que recibes a todas las personas, incluyendo a los padres y a los niños, sea agradable. Muchas veces pensamos que no es importante, eso es un error. Tanto el peinado, como el vestido y el calzado, deben estar acordes para el trabajo que se realiza.

Siempre utilizo un uniforme para trabajar en mi consulta.

La comunicación y el lenguaje.

Fundamental. Tu voz: tono, intención, matices, intensidad, volumen y vocabulario. La forma cómo te comunicas: mirar a la cara y no invadir el espacio privado interpersonal. En general, cómo te relacionas con las personas, tanto adultos como niños, es muy importante. Quizás uno de los principales aspectos de los que te he señalado hasta el momento y que debes cuidar muchísimo.

Mi amigo, el monito.

El horario.

Llega antes, no te vayas sin organizar y que todo vuelva a quedar en su sitio. Sobre todo, evita dejar a un padre o a una persona esperándote. Sé impecable con tus rutinas laborales. Sé honesto contigo y cumple con los tiempos establecidos, tanto con la atención de los niños como el horario de permanencia en tu consulta.

Cuando un padre confía en que puede, cuando lo necesite, dejarte a solas con un niño, muchas veces que no tiene lenguaje articulado y problemas para comunicarse, se traduce en que has ganado una confianza que no tiene precio.

No se trata de no haber cometido errores, se trata de haber aprendido, rectificar, aceptar, desaprender, volver a construir… continuar errando y teniendo éxitos como parte del camino de este aprender a estar.

Happy day, fellow readers. Today I am back to tell you about aspects of my psychopedagogical consultation. These are things that have allowed me to build a concept that identifies me. I think that when you work with child care and in direct relationship with people, you must be aware that taking care of the elements that make up your work is important, since they all impact the favorable prognosis of the work being done.

I started with very few materials and I have been growing. Although the most important thing is not the physical resources; but the people. In this sense I can also say that I maintain good relationships with parents and representatives; even, with whom I have had some disagreements.

Entering my query.

I am Sandra Cabrera, educational psychologist, with postgraduate studies in Comprehensive Special Education, Educational Planning and Children's Literature. I have 37 years with my private practice in the city of Cumaná, Sucre state, Venezuela. I have learned from all the successful and not so successful experiences over the years and perhaps some of these reflections may interest you.

The recreational-educational material used in psychopedagogical practice is as important as knowing the theories. In an adequate psychopedagogy session, theory and practice must be handled coherently. When you buy or build a material you must be clear about how and why you are going to use it, that is, what goals we want to achieve by mediating through those materials.

Planning.

Planning is the basic guide to coherently guide psycho-pedagogical action. When the child enters the consultation and after carrying out the evaluation, I plan the first fifteen days of work, select the most appropriate possible activities and strategies...and this naturally leads me to better define the type of materials and select the strategies with which I'm going to mediate.

It is important to have varied, attractive and easy-to-handle material to support the planned activities.

Equally, evaluation materials are important.

Coherence between planning elements.

The elements of adequate planning must have a common thread that makes the entire educational care process coherent. The more clarity there is in this synergy, the greater achievements can be obtained. However, strategies are generally accentuated in isolation, losing sight of the meaning of the objective and this with the theoretical model with which you are working.

The evaluation will be coherent with theoretical approaches and from there coherent with the lines of intervention.

The distribution of time.

Generally, a standard psychopedagogy session lasts 45 minutes; However, I work for 1 hour, because in that time, in addition to executing the planned activities, I must take the final records and exchange with the father what I consider necessary. If the work is not organized around time, it denotes a lack of professionalism and a lack of learning from experience.

Time organization is essential. It should be structured according to your daily hours of stay, the number of children and other activities that must be carried out. Time is a resource of care. My watch is never missing.

The physical space.

It must be organized and ordered according to the activities carried out. Working with young children, with some commitment to development, requires that we structure the work space, which helps us promote the anticipation of actions and the meaning of what is being done. If there is no order, the sequences are lost and the psycho-pedagogical action is left adrift. If we really want to help the child, we must be very organized. Likewise, lighting, ventilation and cleaning are essential. Having a pleasant space is essential.

Waiting area.

In a psycho-pedagogical consultation, parents sometimes have to wait for the child, for different reasons, so it is necessary to have a space where they can spend that time in a pleasant way. It is as important as the space for the child's attention, the space for parents and family members. In my office I have basic furniture, comfortable chairs, internet connection, satellite television, musical atmosphere, clean bathrooms; Water, infusions, coffee or tea available. In addition to parents and children, I must also consider the permanence of those people who, due to various interests, come to request information and/or guidance.

Here parents can wait for the psychopedagogical therapy to finish...while enjoying a coffee in a pleasant musical atmosphere or reading a story.

The facade.

The interior of the consultation is as important as the exterior. A clean front, preferably with well-kept plants that invite you to observe nature and remember the benefits it offers us. Likewise, it is appropriate that the consultation be easily accessible and that it does not represent a danger for the entry and exit of children. When we have nearby avenues, highways, alleys, garbage cans or any element that is perceived as a threat, it is not favorable.

Your appearance.

You must take care that the image with which you greet all people, including parents and children, is pleasant. Many times we think that it is not important, that is a mistake. Both hairstyle, dress and footwear must be appropriate for the work being done.

I always wear a uniform to work in my practice.

The comunication and the lenguage.

Fundamental. Your voice: tone, intention, nuances, intensity, volume and vocabulary. The way you communicate: look at the face and do not invade the private interpersonal space. In general, how you relate to people, both adults and children, is very important. Perhaps one of the main aspects that I have pointed out to you so far and that you should take great care of.

Schedule.

Arrive early, don't leave without organizing and make sure everything is back in its place. Above all, avoid leaving a parent or person waiting for you. Be impeccable with your work routines. Be honest with yourself and comply with the established times, both with the care of the children and the time spent in your office.

When a parent trusts that he can, when he needs it, leave you alone with a child, often when he does not have articulate language and problems communicating, it means that you have gained a trust that is priceless.

It's not about not having made mistakes, it's about having learned, rectifying, accepting, unlearning, building again... continuing to make mistakes and having successes as part of the path of this learning to be.
