Squirrelling metals

in voilk •  5 months ago

For many years I've bought precious metals, gold and silver, as part of my investment strategy for the investment growth and a way to hold quantities of cash without holding cash. I've worked my metals purchases into a budget so buy consistently across the year while keeping an eye on trends so I'm buying in the lows not the highs.

Recently I added some more, 30oz of silver coins, and because it is so pleasing to hear those little things clinking and feeling them in my hands I was doing some "organising" last weekend which basically means, I was playing with my silver and gold and not doing anything productive other than enjoying the feel and sound of it. If you're thinking, this chap might actually be a pirate...you're probably right.

I decided to take a few shots more because I've not used my camera much in the last few months and here's a few I took.

I remember the first metals I bought, a 1kg block of 9999 silver and 10oz ingot of 9999 gold and how great it felt to have started on a new financial and investment journey; of course, I wanted more immediately but that wasn't financially possible so I put a strategy together and have stringently followed it for years...and I got more gold and silver, and more and more and...you get the idea. Years later, I think back to that first purchase and compare those two pieces I bought against my current holdings and I can't help but smile and be happy with having set goals and that I stuck to them in respect of my metals purchasing.

Have you started squirrelling metals and if so what's your strategy on purchasing, do you have a plan or simply add a little when you can? Do you have a different financial strategy to help secure your future or do you have none? Feel free to comment below if you'd like to.
