Living in the moment

I was having a conversation with a friend some few days back and we basically were talking about a famous saying over here, one that goes like this.. "Enjoy yourself now and let tomorrow take care of itself".

That saying basically is telling us to spend our money, get whatever we want and stop worrying about how we would get money to eat tomorrow because when tomorrow comes, it will take care of itself. Of course myself and this friend don't believe in this saying and we both basically were talking about how dumb it was for anyone to actually live their lives that way because they would end up going broke and hungry the next day, although we both did agree on the fact that there's nothing wrong with spending on yourself every now and then, kinda like rewarding yourself for all of the hardworks you've been putting in.

After we had that conversation and we both went our separate ways, I suddenly found myself thinking about something similar to that same topic, but not exactly the same. You see, recently I've come to be really self-conscious about time and the things I do with it.

Unlike back in the day during my year as a freshman when my life still worked like a calender because everything I had to do back then was already scheduled (which basically was me going to school everyday for the next four/five years till I graduate), now it's a whole different ball game because now that I'm a graduate, there really isn't a scheduled path for me to follow anymore.

I could be in this state today and the next day I find myself on a bus to an entirely different state in the country. That single realization is what has made me much more aware of the things and the people around me. Three, two years ago I didn't care about these things because I knew I had time but now that even I can't really control where life takes me, I'm starting to see things a lot differently.

And that is why whenever I go out to different places or I'm hanging out with my friends, I always make sure that I enjoy every minute of it, kinda like making sure I taste every bit of that moment if it was a soup because I know that could be the last time I would be tasting that soup or hanging out with that exact group of people.

Having that realization now for me is a good thing because I feel like a lot of people don't get it until it's too late and then the regrets sets in and they start to wish they had been more involved in the hangouts when they had the chance and they just keep on wishing and wishing.. I don't want to be like that and that is why I've made it a priority to always live in the moment.
